It takes a lot of time and effort for each student to learn and memorize each piece. The Southern Utah String Festival was held March 6, 2010 in Cedar City, Utah. The National Federation of Music Clubs held their piano festival on March 13, 2010. The students are judged on their pieces and given a rating (Superior 5 pts., Excellent 4 pts., Satisfactory 3 pts.). 1st gold cups are worth 15 pts. and 2nd gold cups are worth 30 pts. For his Eagle Scout Project Jared designed and constructed book cases for the Children's section of the library. Jared was also recognized for .earning the Bronze Eagle Palm by obtaining 30 merit badges so far •in Scouting. Jared is an 8th Grader at Beaver High School who ienjoys soccer. Every student was required to write a bill and a speech to present to the Congress House. Each student participated as if he or she were a legislator and presented a bill and a persuasive speech. Every day the class elected a chair person to take charge of the House, and this student used Parliamentary Procedures to manage the class effectively, calling on Senators and voting on bills. Varsity Debate s.tudent Chancy Call helped the students with bills and procedures. On Friday, March 19, the students voted Tate Black as Best Chair, and four students won awards for being the most active and giving the most and best speeches during class competition. Tate Black took 1st Place, Shane Kerksiek and Makaylee Fotheringham took 2nd Place, and Kellie Macdonald took 3rd Place. The students and Coach Eyre would like to thank Chancy Call for helping make this competition fun and successful, and they would like to thank Mr. Frederickson and Mr. Kelly Wood for making the beautiful plaques for the prizes.
