Fiovn In lienor Extension Centennial U.S. Flngc Of American flags were recently flown over the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., in honor of Utah State University Extension's 100 year anniversary celebration. The flags were flown at the request of U.S. Senator Robert F. Bennett, and one flag wss flown for each of the 29 counties in Utah. A flag was aiso presented to USD President Stan Aibrecht and the university on behalf of Extension. According to Charles W. Gay, associate vice president for Extension, "The flags represent Cooperative University Extension's partnership with federal, state and local government. These flags serve as a symbol of this collaboration that has effectively brought information and education programs to the citizens of Utah to improve the quality cf life, sustain communities, and conof the state and nation." tribute to the economic At Extension's Annua! Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Congratulations goes out; to the newest Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members of Beaver County. They spent 24 hours in class learning many things including disaster preparedness, fire suppression, medical operations, light search and rescue, etc. These individuals along with others that have completed the course are now certified to help their families, friends, neighbors and community in emergency situations. Other training classes will be held fcr those individuals who are interested in attending a future class.
