Carma Sly conducted. We began with a prayer by Carma, Bea led us in the Pledge and the were minutes read and approved. We had two visitors, LaFawn Stepan, a potential member and Selma Jones, who has moved to the care center and others from the care center. Jean gave our lesson on the settlement of Northern and Central Nevada Utah by Pioneers. Two Pioneer songs were led by LaFawn and accompanied by Ann Marshall, Daughters of Pioneer, and Utah Pioneers. Jean highlighted counties of Elko, Humbolt, Mineral, Churchill, Pershing, Lander and Eureka. This was during the time of the Pony Express Days. According to Richard Moreno there are more than 10 uninhabited ghost towns, most of them owed their existence to the rich mineral wealth. Some of these communities boomed, then busted, and some grew into substantial cities before the decline. It was an interesting lesson and we all enjoyed it. Refreshments were served and we adjourned. Saturday December 9, 2006 at St Lukes Hospital, Boise Idaho. He weighed in at 9 lbs 5 ozs, 22 inches long. Xander is the son of Jeremiah and Kristin Clemons and the brother of Zane and Zachary ages eight and six. Jeremiah is formerly of Beaver, Utah and graduated from Beaver High School in 1999. He is now settled with his growing family in the Treasure Valley area of Idaho and works at. the Lithia company of Boise Idaho. Kristin was raised in Idaho and Nampa, graduated from Eagle High School. She is now a dental hygienist in Meridian, Idaho but has been on maternity leave since Xander's arrival. Besides his very proud parents, Xander was greeted at the hospital when he first arrived by his maternal grand parents, Mike and Lynn Ploskonka of Eagle, Idaho, and his above mentioned brothers Zane and Zach ; his paternal grandfather, Daniel R. Clemons, of Beaver, Utah; his great grandmother, Patricia Lindsay Clemons, also of Beaver, Utah; his two Aunts, Dannyn Clemons Standley of Nampa, Idaho and Destiny Clemons of Beaver.; his great Aunt Pati Clemons Hatch of Nampa, Idaho, also some friends of his parents. Here in Beaver, Xander has a Great Aunt, Cathleen Clemons and a Great Uncle Scott Clemons and wife. Great Aunt Margaret Clemons. He has many relatives in Beaver since he is one of the numerous of Charles descendants Chambers and Sophia Kershaw Woodhouse who were among the first pioneers who came to settle Beaver in 1856. Quillen Jones, 72, passed away at her home on January 15, 2207. She was bom December 24, 1934 in Osborne, Kansas to & Allen Gorden Florence to moved She Quille,n. California in 1956 and married Willis Dale Jones ion March 9, 1957.' She worked for Douglas Aircraft Company for 10 years and then moved to Lake Elsinore, California and worked for H & R Block for 19 years. They moved to Beaver in 1988 and her husband Dale preceded her in death on July 4, 1988. She is survived by her brothers, James Richard (Pat) Quillen of Lenexa, Kansas, Don Quillen of Osborne, Kansas and Ronald (Kathy) Quillen of Banning, California as well as step daughter Marsha Folden of Aberdeen, Washington. A memorial service was held on Saturday,' January 13, 2007 at 2:00PM at the Southern Utah Mortuary Chapel. She patiently shared Chase with the Ward and Stake. She taught Gospel Principles to her family, both by word and by her many examples of compassionate service. She is survived by her four (Gary) Judy children, Chamberlain, Ginger Wiliyard, Roger (Adele) Murdock, Craig (Christina) Murdock, brothers and Mary and sisters-in-law- s, Gae Barlow, Lynn Mary Murdock, (Frank) Kathryn Heiser, Dwight Carter, Carol & Clark Smith, 17 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren many nephews and nieces. Gloria was born February 27, 1934, to Harvey Ward Tomlinson and Lena Amelia Tomlinson (Brosch) in Los Angeles, CA. Gloria is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ernest Bradley Young, her sister Marion Andrews of Vacaville, CA, and her brother Norman Tomlinson of Fairfield, CA; her six children, Debra (Woodrow) Ayles of Ramona, CA, Desiree Storick of Beaver, UT, David Young of Las Vegas, NV, Deanna (Rusty) Talmich of Santee, CA, Daniel (Roberta) Young of Las Vegas, NV, Dion (James) MacMillan of Las NV; Vegas, her grandchildren, Alan Ayles of San Diego, CA, Katrina Storick of Cedar City, UT, Emily Zuniga of Manhattan, KS, John Ayles of Ramona, CA, Christy Willis of Philadelphia, NY, Nicole Cherry of Tacoma, WA, Roy Talmich of Santee, CA, Afton Young of Mesquite, NV, Kevin Talmich of Santee, CA, Brittany Cherry of Las Vegas, NV, Megan Young of Las Vegas, great NV; grandchildren, Harveston of Cedar City, UT, Christopher Willis of Donovan NY, Philadelphia, of Manhattan, KS, Zuniga Natasha Talmich of Santee, CA, Joshua Willis of Philadelphia, NY, and one on the way. Gloria-ipreceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Barlow Rogers Murdock, 87, "passed away Monday, January 8, 2007 rejoining her beloved husband Chase Hatch Murdock after 27 years and 1 day of separation through death. Lucille was bom in Logan, Utah, to N. J. and Allie Rogers Barlow on April 26, 1919. She and her siblings; Bernus, Ruth and Roger were raised in Cedar City, Utah, where she attended high school and at Branch college now S.U.U. Agricultural College, in excelled She academics, music, and drama and enjoyed the association of numerous close friends. One of those Murdock friends, Kathryn played violin in a String group where Lucille played the cello. Kathryn sent a picture of Lucille to her brother Chase, who was serving as an LDS missionary. Lucille and Chase met "by chance" shortly after his mission ended. Chase presented her with a lollypop bouquet from the family grocery store and proposed several months later. They were married August 7, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had four children; Judy, Ginger, Roger and Craig. She was a loving mother who always put the needs of her family first. At death's door, she remained constant in her con- cern for her family's well being, and was a beautiful and proper lady to the end. Lucille shared her talents with the community;' participat She has been a resident of Beaver Hospital's Long Term Care Facility for the past six years. The family wishes to thank the loving employs there. Lucille had great love for the workers who cared for her, and the residents who became her friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 11:00AM at the Beaver LDS 4th Ward Chapel. Interment in was the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
