Sixteen teams came together this past week for the Southern Utah State Babe Ruth Baseball Tournament. The competitions were held on the baseball field by the Rodeo Grounds, starting Tuesday morning July 5, and ending Wednesday July 14th with 4 games each day. If you were able to catch any of these games you were able to see some great baseball. Being able to host the tournament allowed our local families to eliminate a lot of travel and expense. We hope many visiting teams brought some added business to our local merchants as well. We want to thank everyone that pulled together to make this all happen. Beaver City crews helped keep the lawns mowed and watered, they maintained the restrooms and even donated Anthony Monfredf for several of the game days where he was found doing anything from field prep to checking in teams. We appreciate the friendly and willing help from Sean Limb and all the city crew. They were very Tournament accommodating. Directors like Joe White and Dale Myers were excellent at checking teams in, keeping the tournament running smoothly, and always available to trouble shoot baseball rules, flip for hometeam, organize umpires, and make sure the field was prepped and ready for each game. We appreciate all the young men who helped with dragging the field, chalking the lines and watering down the field so the field looked nice for each game. A big t hanks t o C raig and K im Davidson for running the concessions, they were there very early and very late each day. Many parents and siblings volunteered time to provide refreshments for the teams. We want to thank Principal Henrie and Beaver Hospital for sharing their ice machines for ice, etc. We appreciate all the ladies that came to volunteer time to keep the official score book, many of whom didn't even have children playing on the teams, they were just willing to give of their talents. We appreciate the coaches for our Beaver boys, Kelly Bradshaw and Kenton Moss for the 1415 year olds, and Wayne .Bradshaw and Wes Marshall for the 13 year olds. They have all spent countless hours for their teams and for the tournament, we appreciate their dedication and willingness to serve our boys. We love the boys that allow us to enjoy the game, we have fine youngmen., on these teams. special thanks goes to the Coed Softball teams, and Stephanie Gillins for changing their game schedule so that we could use the baseball field during the tournament, we know this was an inconvenience for many of you. It will be wonderful x when we actually have a and many of these things can happen at the same time, rather than one at a time. Yes, it was a great week for baseball and It couldn't have happened with out some very dedicated coaches, parents, volunteers, and the city crew. One bottled dressing that's receiving high praise is Kraft Zesty Italian, which has been improved with more herbs and spices. Among consumers who like Italian dressing, it was preferred over the other loading brand. The dressing can serve as a terrific topper for both of these splendid salads.
