An Open House will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2004 in Utah, from 6 to 8 Cedar City - High school students from all over Utah learned what it takes to be a future healthcare worker at Southwest Utah AHEC's annual Health Career Exploration Camp. The camp was held June 14, 15 and 16 at Southern Utah University. Chelsey Suggars from Milford attended this year's camp. Students took suturing, physical therapy, nursing skills, respiratory therapy, medical laboratory science, and dentistry classes at the camp. In the pharmacy workshop,' students were able to make their own chapstick. The c amp g ives s tudents the o pportunity t o e xplore various health career professions and start making plans for their secd ondary education. AHEC targets students from rural and communities to attend the three day workshops in hopes they can learn about several potential careers. Students also participated in social activities and a Dutch oven dinner and dance, r is the 3rd fastest growing industry in The healthcare-industrthe top 50 fastest growing jobs are in healthcare. Healthcare also offers a wide variety of professions with 300 different types of careers to choose from. After a delightful 18 .holes of play, the following ladies placed: Marilee Eyre 3rd gross, shooting 91 Donna Carter 3rd net, shooting 93; Debbie Nichols 2nd gross, shooting 103; Claudette Davis, 3rd gross, shooting 105; and Marion Harmon 2nd net, shooting 108, The ladies enjoyed a lovely awards luncheon served at the Elks Lodge. Debbie Nichols was the lucky winner of $142.00 during the drawing. The ladies meet every Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Canyon Breeze Golf Course for ladies day. Remember, "If it's important to you, it's important to me." Swindlehurst Swindlehurst born 1, 1929 to Bert Swindlehurst and Geniel Irons Swindlehurst, in Nephi, Utah. He attended Belknap Elementary School and Beaver High School. In high school he was an athlete and held a state title in the hurdles. He married Alice Thomas in the St. George Temple July 1, Leon December , 1948. Over the years Leon worked at several different jobs. He was employed by the Holsum Bread Company and the Union Pacific Railroad. Alice and Leon held the state franchise for the Utah State Liquor Store for 11 years. Leon went to work for Lockheed in Lancaster California in 1966 After retiring in1992, he and Alice moved back to Beaver. He was a member of the LDS church. He was active in scouting, the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a member of the original American Legion Honor Guard. He was a patriot, a horseman, an excellent marksman and hunter, a man of his word, a friend to all, a devoted a proud father and grandfather. He was deeply appreciative of all those who were good to his family, as his family was truly the most important thing in . soul-mat- e, his life. He is survived by his wife, Alice of Beaver, sons and Rod and Joan daughter; Swindlehurst of Lancaster.Ca, Ross and Nancy Swindlehurst of Boron, Ca, Lanette Keate and Darrell Perkins of Bakersfield, Ca, Ray and Lynn Swindlehurst of Val Verde, Ca. We will be, welcoming three new coaches to our staff. All three have great coaching experience and are looking to contribute to our program right away. Branden Draper: Head coach 6th yr Steve Hutchings: Assistant coach 6th yr Josh Marshall: Assistant coach 6th yr New Coaches Alan Raddon: 1st year. Former Head coach at Beaver High School, and assistant for many years. Coach Raddon is also the Wrestling coach and Girls Track Coach. He will be working with the OLDL this year as well as the freshman Brady Falls:1 st year. Brady is currently the head coach of the girls softball team. He has been coaching football In the Beaver Youth Football League. Brady will be working with the WR DB this year as well as the JV. Kenton Moss: 1st year. Kenton has been coaching in the Beaver Youth Football League. He Is also the current coach of the yr old baseball team here In Beaver.
