After 8 days of collecting money in jars the pig finally knew who was going to kiss her. Over 100 people gathered in the small gym at BHS on March 16 to watch D r. M elling smooch a donation by his staff at the clinic. He then asked if they would rather watch his medical staff kiss Porky, but the answer was a loud, "No!" Porky was then escorted to half court and Dr. Melling took all the necessary precautions before kissing her. He first gargled with a large amount of mouthwash. He then wiped both his and Porky's mouth with a wet wipe. He then pulled a surgical mask out of his pocket, but amid loud protests from the crowd put it back. It was finally the moment of truth... he took Porky's face in his hands a nd g ave h er a k iss on the snout! It was revealed that Porky was more scared than Dr. Melling was when she gave a loud squeal when she was kissed! The kiss was so fast that those wanting to take a picture were disappointed. There wasn't enough time to take one! Huge thanks goes to Wade Bradshaw and George Henrie for agreeing to participate in the kiss a pig fundraiser, but the real hero is Dr. Mitch Melling for his willingness to participate and follow through with his promise when his jars collected the most money. He s not only a wonderful doctor but a great member of the community who was in a willing to participate fundraiser for the Beaver Women's Basketball League.
