While the Board and the staff were in Salt Lake City, they went to the Utah State Board of Health to further discuss the Certificate of Need. They also visited with Mr. Lorenzo of Romney of the Department Housing and Development. Mr,, Romney was the man in charge when the Hilltop Apartments were built. He said, "Beaver has the finest facility of this type in Utah; it may not be the largest, but it is the best. " Mrs. Louise Farrer (a current member of the Hospital Board) and Mr. Arlo Messinger continued to inform the public about the proposed facility, writing several articles in the newspapers until the time of the bond election which was scheduled for October 23, 1984. The Board of Directors held an Open House at the Opera HouseCivic Center on October 17, 1984 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., entertaining questions and dis- cussing the plans. Of the 1,032 eligible voters in Beaver City, only 475 voted in the Bond Election held October 23, 1984 and 324 of those who voted, voted in favor of the issuance of bonds to construct the Nursing Home Facility. The original bonds needed totaled $700,000. Gale. However, the construction has been delayed because of problems with the plans so the City Council rejected the bids in the City Council meeting of October 1, 1985 and will rework the drawings and specifications with the architect to Beaver City's satisfaction. Louise Farrer has assured the public that the Hospital Board and Beaver City have done everything in their power to expedite the construction. Hopefully, within a short time, the dream of the geriatric wing will be a reality as the main hospital became a reality August 10, 1966. The hospital currently staffs 32 part and full time employees.
