The Iron Mission Museum Foundation was organized in 1989 to act in an advisory capacity and provide financial support for museum operations. The Foundation provides guidance and assistance to the officers and staff of the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum in their efforts to collect, preserve, interpret and present historical materials to visitors. T h e vision of this organization, with their plan to create a hands-on experience for school groups and visitors of all ages, is very impressive. It is exciting to be able to support this type of a project which will educate us on the roots of this area and help us to understand how we came to have this remarkable community," said Tom Heaton, Rocky Mountain Power customer and community manager. This is a great opportunity for Frontier Homestead to expand its educational opportunities. The staff is grateful to the Rocky Mountain Rower Foundation for making it possi. ble to complete the development of;-the Iron Works homestead. When finished, th$ Homestead will reveal and pre^ serve Ihe roots of Cedar City and Iron, County, providing a shared sense of community. It is because of the charitable support of organizations such as -4he Rocky "Mountain Power Foundation that we are able to offer this type of expanded programming to our communities," said Park Manager Todd Prince, This grant wilt assist the museum in completing the replica iron foundry that will tell the story of the history of the park. Cedar City and iron County. The foundry will consist of a full size blast fumgce mcdeled after the iron Mission plans, and a functional water wheel that will run into the furnace to simulate powering the bellows.
