Twins in the small farm flock usually increase the profits in just about the proportion in which they are saved. Tests show that where feed Is available, twin lamb3 are as heavy at marketing time as the single lamb, and the investment and feed prior to birth are equal. Green alfalfa Is the Ideal feed for flushing. The average farmer can well af ford to have his flock lamb in Feb ruary, in the past we have had more uniform and very frequently higher temperature at that time than in March and April, and the farmer is usually more at liberty to give more time and attention to the newly born lambs. In later periods the farm work demands attention, and nature is left unmolested to de-cide the fate of the profit side of the business. Don't forget that good sires are just as necessary for the best results with sheep as are good bulls, or good seed potatoes In their respective circles. An extra pound of wool on the ewe lamb saved for breeding, or an extra few pounds of mutton on the wether lamb carcass is just that much extra profit. The investment in a good ram is justified. Musty, damp quarters soon lower the vitality of the birds and make them easy prey to any disease. Chickens should be given a treatment for lice. Very simple methods get very practical results. Clean house and clean birds make for better profits. Pullets should be so ted that the bird will start laying any time from now until November 1st, and radical changes either In feed or housing may cause disastrous results. Hen flock that have not already been culled during the summer should be severely culled now so only the good ones will be retained in the flock to consume high priced feeds during a long unproductive period through the molt.
