Conventions The County Chairman has issued a call (or the election of delegates In the various precincts in Beaver County. Beaver County is entitled to ten delegates to the Republican State Conven-- . tion to be held in Salt Lake City, Thursday, September 5, at 11 oclock and the same number of delegates for the Judicial Convention, which has been called at Salt Lake City at the Cullen Hotel, Wednesday, September 4th, 1912. The State Convention nominates a full State Ticket and also two candidates for Congress. The Judicial Convention nominates a Judge and District Attorney. The apportionment in Beaver County is made as followp, based upon the number of votes casts for Howell at the last election two years ago, in the ratio of one delegate to each eighty votes or msjor fraction thereof: The primaries are called for Saturday of this week, being the 24th inat. Geo. Jefferson, Precinct Chairman of Star Precinct haa called this primary Milford.O(-ofi(JIoube at 9 o deck Saturday night, this late hour being necessitated by the fact that so many of the places of business heli e keep open later than usual on Saturday night. Greenville and Adamaville jointly will elect one delegate. At the primary Saturday night we trill also, here in Milford, elect a Precinct Chairman and Secretary. It is the expectation that the same delegates will represent Beaver County it both the Judicial and State Conventions, and they are. both called in Sait Lake City on two successive dates the Judicial on the 4th and the State Convention on the 5tb of September to make it convenient for one set of delegates to serve at both conventions. Amongst items of special interest wsss levy of the taxes, As levied this year the State and State School U7J j mills, and the Beaver County School 21 mills, Beaver County general 4 mills, County Fair M mill, special levy for the advertising and publicity work authorised by the laet legislature of a mill. The assessment for BeaverCity this year is 15 mills as compared with 12 mills last year. The assessment on sheep for Beaver was cut 10 by the State Board of Equalisation. We are glad that our County Assessor was sufficiently diligent to discover so much that a cut was necessary instead of an increase. Our tax payers always feel better over a reduction than they do over the opposite. J. F. Tolton was appointed, by the Board of County Commissioners, aa a Comdelegate to the mercial Congress, which meets in Salt Lake City the latterpartof this month and also to the National Irrigation Congress which meets at the end of October. The Board also accepted the resignation of J. T. Tanner as Chairman of the County Fair Committee and appointed D. I.
