Sinking In the shaft will be commenced just as soon as tbe station pump arrives, and six weeks later, barring unexpected and unforeseen difficulties, the objective point will be reached. A cram-cu- t of leu than 160 feet on tbe 600 level will care ry the workings Into the fissure and ora bodies already proven to a point within twentyfive or thirty feet of that level by the diamond drills, and where the richest ore yet found In the mine Is known to exist. While the water level in tbe property Is at tbe 500 level, it does not vary at all, and that fact has convlnved Manager Moffat, who has had to do with wet mines all bis life, that no trouble Is going to be experienced in handling tlie flow. In fact, he Is enthusiastic over the fact that he baa some water In the mine, as It makes certain the belief that tbe mine would be richer when tbe leacbed, oxidized sone had been penetrated and the none of redeposition had been entered. Because tbe water holds Its level at the 500 Is taken as positive evidence that the redepoaltlon of the leacbed minerals haa commenced immediately below that point and that, as a result, the ore must make In sulphide .form and carry added values as a result of the leaching from above. There is now exposed in the Harrington Hickory mine, between the t 300 and levels, four to eight feet of creator, a distance north pud south over 120 feet on the 600 level. In places it Is fifteen feet wide and Its good commercial grade is evidenced in tlie fact that the ore marketed and which was necessarily sent out Just as it was broken in doing development work, went approximately 25 per cent 500-fo- Y- s, cngf-gcnit-ii- - f h n n w e . 500-foo- . lead and 20 ounces silver, with a little gold per ton. A umpling of the several carload piles broken down In starting the s topes, ore which Is now being raised to the surface for shipment, shows considerably better values, as the ore is cleaner. Some of It goes 45 per cent lead and as many ounces In silver, while tbe average will likely be around 35 ounces and 50 per cent lead. Below the water level tbe diamond drill cores have assayed as high as 60 per cent lead and 80 ounces sliver per ton. Tbe main ore shoot haa been opened for a distance of more than 120 feet along the course of the ledge, north and south, on the 500-folevel, and its limits has not been determined In fissure In the bedding planes of the line. Fine ore was also encountered on tbe south side of the vertical shaft at about the 450 foot mark, but that was not prospected at all, as the object was to get the shaft down. Where tbe ledge has been opened up from the 300 down to tbe 500 there has been a gradual Improvement in the values, and, without counting anything in either direction beyond the present faces of the north and south drifts on the 500 level, enough good work has already been doue to show that several thousands of tons of good com merrlal ore are available. However, it la not tbe. purpose of tbe management to subordinate development to the extraction and shipment of ore. Development ia to be continued and only tbe ore that is taken out In doing this work will be marketed. As explained by Manugcr Moffat: Thia company is not playing to the galleries. It started out with an hou--edetermination and set purpoae to make mines of its properties. The Harrington Hickory was selected as the first property to prove up. When I took hold a year ago I was sanguine that a mine could be made here. It is proving up better than I had any reason to believe it could possibly do In so short time and under tbe difficulties we have experienced In getting machinery and equipment such as was needed delivered. We already have a good mine aud we shall make it many times as valuable during the next twelve months. Not a cent of money &ss been wasted; not a penny bos been spent that has qot bees fully accounted for, and I find It a pleasure to serve a company that does business In that way. Before dismissing the subject of wliat the Majestic Mines company is accomplishing for Itself and the reputation of mining In Beaver countyt should be said that great possibilities also exist In its Old Hickory and O. K. copper mines. Nothing Is being done nt either at the present time, but there are thousands of tons of ore that will go 2a per cent copper and over 20 per cent excess iron at the Old Hickory that can be marketed at a comfortable profit with copper at 15 cents or 16 cents. At tbe 0. K. conditions in the deeper workings are such as to carry a conviction that a splendid mine can yet be developed there.
