M V - J MAMMVMMWMWWWWWi Maureen Jones of Ely, Nevada spent a week with Kathy and Willie Acklln helping take care of the family after the new arrival. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Whittaker recently returned from a vacation. They met some of her family at Otter Creek Reservoir where they enjoyed some fishing for several days. Then they traveled to Bullfrog Marina where they met other fiunlly members for a houseboat trip on Lake Powell. Those enjoying the trip were Harry and Juna Nay of West Valley City; Darlene Miller, Brigham City; Madge Nay, West ValleyCltyjUnaRlsner, Ivins, and friends; Ralph and Ella Mae Rlsner of Morristown, Indiana. Thelma Gillins has spent the last week In Blackfoot, Idaho visiting with her sons, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Qlllns and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Kent Gillins and family. While there she attended the Idaho State Fair which she said was lots of fun and very Interesting. Norman and Madeline Davis and Nolan and Iva Davis spent Friday In Salt Lake getting doors for the building that the fire trucks are kept In. The Fire Department hopes to get them Installed by winter. Members also spent Thursday night Installing new lights In their meeting room. Phyllis Crisp, Loretta Hales and Marjorie Gray enjoyed a weekend In Las Vegas. While there they went to a Tom Jones performance and did many other fun things. Marjorie reports that they all had a great , ' '""X, son, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wunderlich, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Norm Lamb, and Marge Mecham. They all thoroughly enjoyed the convention, sightseeing and tours. The EMTs held their regular meeting on Thursday. They saw several films on taking vital signs and new methods of saving choking victims. The EMTs also felt that the EMS week was a great success. In fact, the state asked that all the pictures and jingles (not just the winners) done by the grade school kids be sent up to them, they really would like to see them. The EMTs will see that this is done. The Brownies have started another fun filled year. Their first meeting was held Wednesday, Sept. 26. They made octopusses from braided yarn. They will meet twice a month at the leaders homes. Leaders this year are Ruth Smith, Randee Mellor and Rose Marie Cas- Brandon Bouck, third place winner in the Pine Wood Derby for the Beaver Stake, went to Salt Lake this weekend to compete in the State Brandon did a great Competition. job and came home with the Second Place award in the nine year old division. Congratulations! Brian and Sharalyn Hanley, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hanley, were here for the weekend visiting with friends and family. Their three daughters and new baby daughter also came down. Bea Oxley just returned home from a ten day visit with her daughter Amanda Hansen and four children of Kearns, Utah. Amanda and her husband Lynn, and children Kelli, Keith and Amy brought her home Saturday. Daughter Aaron stayed in Kearns with friends. Bryan Edwards, son of Beth Edwards came down to Milford this weekend to visit with family and rest wereRomonaandCharlesSmlth Bob and Pat Davis, Zeke and Phyllis Hickman, and Herb and Betty friends. A lovely wedding was held Friday for Todd Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Coy Williams, and Marla Prodz inski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mel Prodz inskl. A family dinner was held Friday afternoon with the wedding and reception following on Friday evening. Todd and Marla will make their home in Cedar City where Todd is attending Coon. The actual convention lasted three days. Sept. 19, 20 and 21. The first day the General Committee was there (Davis Smiths and Hickmans) they were taken by boat to Blake Island where the Indians had fixed them a delicious barbequed salmon dinner and entertained them with Tribal Dances. Her son Randy and wife Lee Ann welcomed a new addition to their family. Adam Scott was born September 17th and joins his older brother, Mitchell, at home. James and Kathlyn Holm of Salt Lake City have been in Milford visiting and helping her parents Fred and Hilda OLeary. James also visited with his brother, Chick Holm and other relatives. On Friday they went to Cedar City and visited another brother, Ab and Lorraine Holm. Fred OLeary and his wife from Ruth, Nevada also visited his parents, Fred and Hilda, for a few hours on Sunday. Kimball has been added to the shelves of the Parowan Public Library. The book was purchased with money contributed by an anonymous donor, in memory of the late Carlena Mortensen. The Vermillion Voices, a local singing group, gave a concert in the St. George Tabernacle on September 19. A capacity crowd was in attendance and the singers received a standing ovation for their outstanding performance. Included in the group are: Steve Adams, Phil Eves, Bob Rowley, Jay Wilcken, Brenda Adams, Chris Burton, Eleen Evans, Merna Mitchell, Jackie and Robinson, accompanist Vyonne Chamberlain.
