The killer will prey upon the unprepared, the inexperienced and sometimes even the old veteran hunter. Every year this killer adds more names to his list os victims. Be careful and be ready to defend yourself from this killer we call HYPO TRERMIA. Hypothermia means lowered body temperature. The combination of cool or cold weather, water (from sweat or the elements), wind lack of heat from failure of the body to produce heat or on outside heat such as fire can cause hypothermia. The initial of stages hypothermia include being chilled ana shivering. The advanced stages include muscles becoming rigid, breathing shallow and weak heartbeat-th- en death. Often, the victim does not realize that he is in danger. A human body has automatic defenses to protect itself. When you begin to get cold, blood goes from your limbs to your inner organs and to the brain to keep you alive. Oxygen to the brain & reduced, making it harder to understand what is happening. A person with hypothermia loses more heat than he can make. His body cannot maKe up for heat loss. A victim begins to shiver and loses some control of his arms and legs. He may stumble or seem confused or drunk. Next, the becomes violent, shivering sometimes with muscle spasms. Total loss of body control may follow. Hypothermia can be a killer on a relatively warm day if you are wet and nave no fire or food supply. To prevent hypothermia, try to ' stay dry from both the water and n that leads to per spiring.
