Mayor Robert H. Lee was absent until 4:20 pjn. Also present were City Recorder Hal Lessing and City Manager Gordon Baker. Councilman Grimshaw moved, Councilman Robinson 2nd, Council man Smith be appointed Mayor pro ten to act in the absence of Mayor Lee. All voted in favor . City Recorder Lessing read the minutes of the City Council meeting of February 9, 1989 and the Special Meeting of Feb. 15, 1983. After reading and review, it was the consenses of the City Council the minutes be approved as read and written. Mayor Lee arrived at this time and assumed the chair. Dick Dearmitt, representing Beaver Youth Basketball, met with the Council and presented a plaque to Beaver City in appreciation and sponsorship of Beaver Youth Basketball. It was the consensus of the Council that Beaver City is appreciative to Dick and all coaches in youth basketball for their time spent with the youth of Beaw ver. Bills were presented and approved for payment. A Beer License Application from High Country Gas, was reviewed by the Council. After review. Councilman Grimshaw moved, Councilman Smith seconded. Beaver City approve the application of High Country Gas. All voted in favor. A settlement from Unigard Insurance Company on damage to Beaver City's upper power plant transmission line was reviewed by the Council. After review, Councilman Smithmoved, Robinson 2nd, Beaver City accept the insurance seitlement on upper power plant transmission line damage in the amount of 51,453.70. All voted in favor. A safety survey report by Beaver City's liability insurance carrier, was reviewed by the council. R was the consensus of the Council City Manager Baker begin to implement corrective measures to correct all deficiencies in the survey report. An agreement for use of rental equipment from Western Area Power Administration was reviewed by the Council. After review of the lease agreement. Councilman Hatchings moved, Grimshaw seconded, Mayor Lee and Recorder lfcsing I authorized to sign the agreement, for lease and use of WAPA cipment at no cost to Beaver City. All voted in favor. The Council reviewed a request from Woodward Governor for Beae, ver City to participate in a western states tour this year. After review of the agree -metit, Councilman Anderson moved, Robinson 2nd, Beaver City will not participating in the Woodward Governor swing through the western states this year, but will send in the card requesting information on additional tours that will I cond'jcted in the future. All voted in favor. A discussion was held on Leaver City's acquisition of additional power. After discussion, it was the consensus of the Council the Pe-- r order attend the UAMPS board meeting in Salt LakeCit on Wednesday, February 22, lSS3atnoon. Councilman Anderson d'scussed with the Council painting of Beaver City street light poles. It was the consensus of the Council that this project be put on the City Manaeer's priority pro;e't list. Council recessed until 7:33 p.m. Danny and Carma Lindsay met with the Council and discussed operation of the Canyon Breeze Golf Course. Some ot the priority projects that are needed this season, cost-shar- 1 in the opinion of Danny and the Men's Golf Association are: (1) Main Winner Street Fire "WHITE FORMER MARKET" The Milford Volunteer Fire Department responded tr a fire on the west side of Milford Main Street at approximately a.m. Sunday, March 5, 1989. Fire Chief Les Whitnev indicated that when the Fire Department arrived, the apartment located above Helene's Deli was engulfed in flames. This portion of the build-- , ing received extensive damage, with niostlv smoke and water damage occuring in the vacant restaurant below, according to Wa-ter- m aster. personal interview was conducted with James and Leslie Ra-sand Linette and Milton Smith for the concession at the swimming pool. Gallery, met with the Council and requested a business license change to a new location. Mr. Nelson will be moving his business to the old Pug's Drlve-ln- n located at 274 North Main. Councilman Anderson moved. Councilman Smith seconded, Beaver City approve the change of business location of Coaches Gallery, subject to approval and signature of the Building Inspector Zoning Administrator and Fire Marshall. All voted in favor. It was the consensus of theCou-c- il that Beaver City advertise the swimming pool phone number in the Beaver Press and efforts be made to place the number In the next telephone directory. A personal interview was conducted with Chad Limb for the position of Parks and Recreation W- orkerAssistant Watermaster. Councilman Robinson moved, Anderson 2nd, Council hire Chad Limb as Parks and Recreation WorkerAssistant Watermaster effective March 1, 1989 at a salary of $9rX).00 per month plus standard benefits. Mr. Limb will be on a 6 -- month probationary period with review by the Council at the end of the 6 month period. All voted in favor. Councilman Robinson moved. Grimshaw seconded, the Council move into executive session at 10:30 p.m. to discuss hiring a swimming pool concessionaire. The Council moved out of executive session at 1 1:40 p.m. Councilman Anderson moved, Robirison 2nd, Beaver City offer the partnership of PaschandSmith the Concession on the swimming Councilman pool. Councilmembers Anderson and Robinson voted in favor of the motion. Councilmembers Smith and Grimshaw voted against the motion. Councilman Hutchings being absent from the meeting, the Council wasdeadlocked.Mayor Lee broke the tie voting against the motion. The motion failed by a majority vote. L4 Mandy Mulr f J) ney. Councilman Hutchings being absent the Council s deadlocked.Mayor L-- e broke the tie and voted in favor of the motion. The motion carried by a majority vote.
