Show ANNUAL AUCTION And Rummage Salo Sat., Sept. 10, 1988 a.m.. meeting will be held at the Courthouse Thursday, September 8th at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the development of the private camp site In Beaver Countyplease come and share your ideas and concerns. Earlier in the spring, forest service personnel and interested county citizens met to discuss building a private campsite for Beaver County. The site is for group use, such as girls camp, scouts, H and family reunions. A tour was taken of possible sites and narrowed to two places; Lower Kents, and Indian Creek. The final decision has not been made for several reasons. One critical point is the size of the Kents Lake site, It is limited in space and there is no room for expansion. It is a beautiful location with plenty of shade, a vie of the small lake and a place for sports. Water is readily available. The Indian Creek site is lower in elevation 30 is hotter. It is large. The expansion possibilities are practically limitless. There is plenty of shade and areas for sports and other activities could be developed. There may be a proA public Auction 9:00 Rum mag o Approx. OF CHURCHES business income of a church or other religious Institution may be taxable, even if the church or institution is otherwise exempt from federal in come tax, the Internal Revenue Service stated. Generally, churches must pay federal tax on income from business activities that are not related to their religious or other exempt purposes. The law broadly defines unrelated business income as Income from a trade or business carried on regularly, and which is not substantially related to the organization's purpose. For example, income from such sources' as the sale 'of religious publications or from the operation of a church school would be considered to be related to the chur l's exemptions, while Income relived from the rental of person- property would be unrelated nd therefore, taxed. The IRS stressed that if an fnrelated activity is not conducted Regularly, the Income produced Is not taxable; for example, the Income from the operation of a booth at a fair is not taxable. Some other Income producing activities that will be exempt In Certain, pt MAY BE TAXABLE clude: Activities In which substantially all the work is performed by unpaid volunteers. -- Activities carried on by the church primarily for the convenience of its members, students, or employees. Churches receiving gross income of $1,000 or more from unrelated businesses must report the ' income using Form 990-"Exempt Organization Business Income Tax Return." We set aside special days to ; remember and honor them for their sacrifice. We remember Columbus with a special day. We remember Washington and Lincoln 03 President's Day. Because we are a people of diverse backgrounds we recognize our heritage with St. Patrick's Day. There is a day for the Sons of Italy. Garfield, Beaver, Juab, Carbon and Grand County are eligible to be designated as enterprise zones bv meeting median thresholds of unemployment, population outre irra-tio- n and per capita income. House Bill 51, passed during the last legislative session and signed by the Governor, proides state corporate and franchise tax credits for the generation of jobs in both new and existing businesses, ft also allows an investment tax credit for invest' ment in plants and equipment. "The real impact of the Enterprise Zone legislation comes not from the state tax credits, but from the role legislation plays in helping distressed counties identify and focus their limited resources for economic deTslopmeit purposes, stated the Governor. First of all this is a campsite for Beaver County. Forest Service personnel are cooperating and will be very helpful in planning but this is our camp. A citizens' committee will be appointed to manage the camp, make reservations, etc. There will need to be a fee for the use of the camp but the money will be used exclusively formalntalnanceofour camp rather than being sent some place else or used to pay salaries as it is in public camps. This must be a cooperative effort on the part of all citizens. We need the imput of an many people as possible. A public meeting will be held Thursday, September 8th at 7: 30 pjo. at the Courthouse to help make final decisions. We hope to have some site plans available for you to see what the camp will be like.
