Yahoodie loves that kind of prank. No amount of drain rleaner, water pressure, plumMng snakes or anything else has been able to dislodge the clog. I hope Yahoodie hasn't been stuffing the neighbors' cats down the vent pipe again like he did at the other' place. Gremlins, I believe, are left over from World War II. Several were probably assigned to the Geneva Steel Plant during that time. Now that they have to perform no malicious mischief to thwart the war effort, they have taken up residence in private homes. Yahoodie is one of the more domestic gremlins. You may recall my telling you about this gremlin who turns on lights when you don't want them on, leaves faucets running and all sorts of other pesky things. When we moved from the old house we figured that yahoodie wojld stay there. After all, he was there when we moved in, he came with the house. When the neighbors told me about their doorbell ringing at 4:30 a.m. I thought maybe one of Yahoodie's relatives lived in the neighborhood, I had no idea it was Yahoodie himself trying to locate us. I'll admit we-- treated Yahoodie pretty good at the othei place. We laughed at some of his antics and we joked about him, but honestly, we really never Intended for him to become a regular mem-bof the family. Yahoodie's specialty is plumbing. He likes to plug up drains and made faucets leak. I think he just gets a kick out of watching me work. Today, I have this strange plumbing problem. Everything works O.K. except two widely separated drains, the kit- - '. ;:. niut I i -! Yahu.i ile like to .iur trash ran. The next day when the up, they take one neighbors on look at the mess and go the family dog. Every now and in again Yahoodie throws a skunk watch to back someone's yard just their dog get sprayed. Dogs hate at Yahoodie, that's why they bark him if he should even get anywhere near their yard. Yahoodie likes to sit on the back fence in the middle of the night and make noises like two cats fighting. That really sets the dogs off. Yahoodie is really good at imitating things. He has just learned a new sound. If someone dials on ill ii i' "f the ici'siiiii i! nam.', you pnilial'ly don't iiii'lerstaiiil L'reinlins at all. Gremlins are just misfiuevious, thpy enjuy rausinc little problems. the innvie version, they don't really need to eat. It is unlikely that they would eat ui a whole cake that may be sitting on the counter overnight. They would rather just leave the rover off the cake dish so that the cake would dry out. Poor old Yahoodie takes a lot of blame for stuff that he probably didn't have anything to do with. I admit that our family uses him for a scapegoat for practically everything that goes wrong. I have a pretty hard time believing the idea that Yahoodie is the one- who keeps drinking all the gasoline out of the lawnmower, as our son keeps suggesting. I do suspect, however, that it is Yahoodie who teases the neighbors dog all night when everyone is trying desperately to get to sleep. i lat Un-li- our bedroom telephone, Yahoodie makes a sound like the kitchen telephone is ringing. Someone will invariably answer the phone in the kitchen and the person calling from the bedroom things they have reached the number they had called. Some very interesting conversations have followed, but they are extremely confusing when the original person being called answers and finds two people already involved in a conversation! Personally, I think there are a lot of gremlins around Utah. Lots of people probably have a house gremlin and don't even know it.
