A nw rears ago I heard about a boy who was claying in a city league when ha came down with a bad case of the flu. It kept him out of commission for 4 days. When he anxiously returned, he found out he had been dropped from the team. The boy was devastated and couldnt understand why he could remain on the team with a pulled leg muscle but not the flu. Coaches are a little on the blind side about such things. Several neighborhood boys tell methal ftey bare to practice wUrQteif team wveYyitlgbtt'sver take tare' of at"honw Homework too, is of second importance. Teachers will Just have to get their priorities In order. Scout meetings, family night, grandma's first parachute Jump and all other unnecessary things will Just have to wait until the season Is over. You would be absolutely amazed at the number of parents who will not buy a Scout uniform for their boy so that he can properly participate In being trained for leadership and dozens of skills, but they think nothing at all of spending a few big bills for a football uniform. Where Is it all going to lead? I can Just see the typical young man 20 years from now applying for a job: "Why. yes, young man, we do have an opening for a computer programmer, what are your qualifications?" "Well, I played offensive line backer for the East Mudvllle Bears." "I see wellwe have an abundant supply of line backers right now.
