Show POLITICAL PROGNOSTICATION: I Calvin Rampto nwill not oppose Wallace F. Bennett for the office of United States Senator. . . . He will an- nounce for re-election at about the "last minute" and he WILL be re-elected Governor of the State of Utah. Both Sherman P. Lloyd and Laurence Burton will be re-elected to the House of Representatives (no matter who the Democrats nominate to oppose them). Senator Wallace F. Bennett has lost some of his popularity and support, but will be re-elected; with probably prob-ably Phil Hansen giving him a close race for the office. There will be skirmishing among the Demos, but Lyndon-Bird will get the nomination, facing - Nixon and Wallace. Rockefeller, like Romney, has talked himself out of the nomination. Wallace will make enough inroads to scare the daylights day-lights out of the standard-bearers of both major parties. He will not be elected, but will influence the election. The voters will still lack confidence in Johnson, who seems unable to realize that he is The President and not just a politician, because of the "credibility gap" . . . the deceiving of the American Public on Vietnam, and also because of his fear of offending labor by moving into the copper strike until longshoremen refused to unload imported im-ported copper and our national defense capability was jeopardized. The Republicans will gain seats in both branches of Congress. Locally ? ? ? Hy Tolley will be re-elected County Commissioner, and Hy Lee of Beaver will be replaced by a Republican. |
