Show FATHER OF REV. JAMES S.LOAN DIES IN MILFORD Edwin George Sloan, 83, father o Rev. James Sloan, died Tuesday, June 20, in the Milford Valley Memorial Hospital. Hos-pital. He was born Feb. 14 ,1884 in South Dakota, and early in his life moved with his parents par-ents to Illinois, and later to Cincinnati, Iowa, where he worked in the coal mines. He married Bessie Fleming in Burlington, Iowa, Nov. 24, 1908. Most of their life together to-gether was spent on farms in Davis County, Iowa. They re-j re-j tired to Moulton, Iowa, in 1959. I Mr. Sloan was a member of j the Methodist Church, and a i lay speaker of the church i since 1958. ' He was preceded in death by his wife, and one son, Lloyd. He is survied by a son, James H., Milford; five grandchildren grand-children and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the Milford Community Methodist Church' at 11 a. m. Sunday, June 25, following the regular morning worship hour. Interment will be in the cemetery ceme-tery at Drakesville, Iowa. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be to the memorial fund for the Southern Utah Parish of Methodist Meth-odist Churches. |
