Show poor of paper string they have COajM graduated from high school. Bat an that piece of paper vlU truly Indicate is Oat there Is a UtUe more tabrl-ca- ty i&ubee year neirs It's end. B's hard to believe It's almost for graduation exercises again. B smd lite only yesterday Mallna was anxiously awaiting ths day shs would start first grade. And It certainly dossal stsm as long as It actually has bssa sloes I was awaiting my own high school gradua-tlo- n. I remember it vail. W wars a group of smart kids and ws wart going to set the world on fire with our great ideas and mark our place in history. Or so we thought at the time, n would be interesting to know how many of us ever really ended up doing what we thought we would with our lives. But when I graduated from high school things were a little different. The major news stories weren't about more layoffs, inflation, higher unemployment, etc. There was a whole world of opportunity for us all we had to do was decide which direction we wanted to go. As a senior a person feels and for he is top dog awhile he is. Yet, when his high school days are oyer he will find himself once more dropped to the bottom of the pile. Should he go to college or a technical school he will again be a lowly freshman, starting up the ladder all over again. This is the way of life. Urn starts a career, he will, again, start And, when he owns (unless of or father-in-la- w the company he works at). As a person graduates, or leaves high school he must realize that he is truly responsible for what lies ahead. Be can ask advice and guidance, bat the final decisions will remain his alone, to make as he sees And where doss his education fit into the overall plan of his life, and what does it contribute to the must make decisions he during his lifetime. I came across an article discussing the above questions and would like to paraphrase It here because I think It is very useful, not only to the high school senior just graduating, but for everyone who makes decisions about hisher life and may at times get very discouraged doing so. "The books you carry around are not the final results of education. They are merely very small, very insignificant tools. The true purpose of education is to find what it is that you personally can do; what you have gleaned from your algebra book, your history book, your English book, etc. It is how you are able to adapt to it later on. life today is looking for the person who will contribute of themself to the education they have received and not because they know Paragraph 3 on Page 45. That is all education is. All it does from grade school tn high school, to college, to graduate work is to give you the opportunity to have a little more lubrication in your thinking. There are many members ta attendance. A short business meetm was conducted by President Margie Sherwood, and the election was held. New officers elected were: Wilms Swain, Pres.; tenor Jobaasen, Sr. Vice Pres.; Marllee Cornell, Jr. Vice Pres.; Dora Smlthson, Conductress; Lillian Atkin, Patriotic instructor; Neva Kinross, Chaplain; Nora Wright, Treasurer; Margie Sherwood, secretary and Neva Atkin and Kinross, Dora Smlthson, Trustees. . A delicious cherry pie was served by hostesses Margie Sherwood and Nora Wright. ooe-ea- a fit. f aa "A" and it is. In fact, someone elses, then they have failed. This not only holds true la school-- it also holds true ail through life. So, be sure and do what you can do best. Be what you are. That Is all life is looking for. Be the best you caa be. Seek your own level and do It best. What then lies ahead? There are new roads -- there are still new opportunities and perhaps the best way to sum it up is with the following poem: "THE BEST WORK HAS NOT BEEN DONE" With doubt and dismay you are smitten You think there's no chance for you son, Why the best book hasnt been written The best race hasn't been run.
