Show DONALD I. SEGERSTROM DIES IN LOVELOCK, NEV. Don Segerstrom, mining expert, ex-pert, historian and journalist, died August 30 near Lovelock, Nevada. He was striken, apparently appar-ently with a heart seizure, while inspecting a gold claim near -Rye Patch reservoir. The reservoir is about 50 miles south cf Imlay, where he had been working on the reactivation re-activation of the family-owned Nevada and Massachusetts Co. Mine. He was a former resident of Milford and is well known in this area. He was bcrn in Son-ora Son-ora on Sept. 19, 1919 to Charles H. and Carrie Inch Segerstrom. He attended schools there and took his first job as a planters Devil for the Union Democrat. Not quite 19 he became the owner of the Democrat and the youngest publisher in the state. Hs interest in journalism and mining was continued through the years. After selling the Democrat, he established the Mother Lode Press, where he pubished the Western Mining and Industrial News, later to become the American Gold News. He had continued as an editorial consultant for the AGN. He is survived by his wife, their five children, three brothers, bro-thers, and a sister. |
