Show Monday Services Held For Doyle Rollins Funeral services were held Monday Mon-day afternoon in Minersville LDS chapel for Leland D. Rollins, 42, who died Wednesday of last week in a Provo hospital of complications complica-tions following an operation. Karl I. Truman, a member of the Minersville LDS bishopric, directed direct-ed the services, with prayer at the home offered by Aaron Baker, the invocation by Ralph Pearson, and the benediction by Delbert Jameson: Jame-son: Prelude and postlude music was played by Mrs. Elinor Marshall, other musical numbers including a vocal solo, "Oh, My Father," by Mrs. Frank Rollins, with background back-ground singing by a vocal quartet and accompaniment by Mrs. Lyn-nea Lyn-nea Marshall; a vocal duet, "In the' Garden," by Mrs. Sylvia Davis and Mrs. Vivian Marshall, accompanied by Mrs. Elinor Marshall; and a quartet selection, "Sometime We'll Understand." The obituary and eulogy were given by Mrs. Alvaretta Robinson and speakers were Bishop Weaner of Orem Tenth LDS ward, of which Mr. Rollins was an active member, and former Bishop Ruben Dotson of Minersville. Interment took place in Mountain Moun-tain View cemetery in Beaver, with the grave dedicatory prayer being offered by R. R. Thomas of Beaver. Pallbearers were Vernon Ras-mussen, Ras-mussen, Rollins Atkin, Wells Banks, Raul Pearson, Elmer Evans, Ev-ans, Ray Baker, Wendell Green, and Evan Burr. Mr. Rollins was born in Minersville Miners-ville October 20, 1917, to Frank Vernon and Etta Corbridge Rollins. Rol-lins. He married Sylvia Luella Baker Erickson May 11, 1940, in Minersville and received his endowments en-dowments May 30, 1951, in the St. George LDS Temple. He was employed 17 years by the Union Pacific railroad at Milford, Mil-ford, serving as foreman part of that time. The couple moved to Orem in 1955. He served as clerk of the Minersville Miners-ville ward under Bishop Ruben Dotson and at the time of his death was in the Orem Tenth ward Sunday Sun-day School superintendency. He was employed by the Columbia-Geneva Columbia-Geneva division, United States Steel Corporation. Eight ward leaders from Orem Tenth LDS ward were in attendance at the services. Mr. Rollins was well-liked in Minersville and in Orem, posess-ing posess-ing a good-natured personality, willing to do his share and more in all his endeavors, and always living by and upholding the standards of the church. He is survived by his widow; two sons, Baker E. Rollins, Columbus, Colum-bus, Ga., and Lee Doyle Rollins, Orem; three daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Phyllis) Hoopes, Los Angeles; Mrs. Gerald (Lois) Gillins, Salt Lake City; and Beverly Luella Rollins, Rol-lins, Orem; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Etta Rollins, St. George; three brothers and four sisters, Frank, Salt Lake City; Arnold, Ely, Nev.; Mrs. Raynola Fowler, Shelley, Idaho; Mrs. Ver-netta Ver-netta Rasmussen, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Belva Atkins, St. George; and Mrs. Flossie Adams, El Monte, Calif. |
