Show ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. One of the new features of the work of the elementary schools of Milford, is the introduction of the half day session plan into the second sec-ond -grade. This change has caused more or less conjecture on the part of the second grade work this year, if they are allowed to attend school only one-half day throughout through-out the year. Any parents who do not understand this plan of work will do well to have a talk with the teacher, Miss Huish, or the principal, princi-pal, Mr. Wilkinson. They can and will be very much pleased to give a satisfactory explanation to the parents, par-ents, or to any one who is interested. The elementary school has secured the use ' of the high school gymnasium for four periods per week and have divided these periods per-iods between the fifth and sixth grade girls and boys. The classes for the boys are held on Mondays and Thursdays, from two-thirty to three-fifteen. The girls have their classes on Wednesdays and Fridays at the same hours. The gymnasium is to be used in the development and protection of the vital organs and the spine, the establishing of' the proper coordination coordina-tion between the nerves and the mustles, and to give them a number of corrective exercises among which will be found those necessary to correct the improper physical positions posi-tions that the children are forced to assume while in school. While we are doing all we can at present to accomplish these things, they can be very much more effectively effect-ively done when we get some apparatus appar-atus in the gymnasium to work with which we hope will be soon. We wish to take the opportunity of Inviting In-viting all who are interested in this work, and especially the parents, to come up to the gymnasium during ouf class periods and see what kind of work we are doing. We are very sure that you will find it well worth your while' to come up and get acquainted ac-quainted with this very important phase of the school work. |
