V k The Utah State Department of Licensure made a ruling 4 Wednesday to revoke Dr. Spaulding's license to practice medicine in the State of Utah. The hospital staff and management are saddened at this decision. We thank Dr. Spaulding for his years of service, for the many lives he has saved and touched hilc he has been practicing medicine here. This brings great concents to us and I am sure to you as to the continued viability of our healthcare system. Dr. Spaulding has the same concern and asks that his patients continue to support Milford Valley Healthcare Services. Dr. Spaulding will remain employed for the next couple of weeks while he finishes his paper work and other assignments that we can have him do. When his work here is completed he hopes to be able to remain in our community w here he and his family have made their home. The administration and board have felt for quite some time that because of our increased workload we should have another physician to help out. We have been recruiting to find another doctor. We have been extremely fortunate to have been able to find two doctors who are interested in coming to Milford. We offered a position to one and due to our present circumstances, we have offered employment to the other. The Doctor's names are Jim L. Hutchinson and Farzana S. Moulvi. Dr. Hutchinson is a Board Certified Family Practitioner. He has been in practice for ten years and does OBGYN and surgery. He and his family live in Grand Coulee, Washington and will be joining us in July. Dr. Moulvi is a personal friend of Dr. Alam and his family. She has also been in practice for ten years. She is a board eligible Pediatrician and will do Pediatrics, OBGYN and Family Practice. We are fortunate to have been able to find such competent well trained physicians, however we will deeply miss Dr. Spaulding's practice here at the hospital. Please give him and his family the love and support that it will take to help them through this crisis in their lives. The hospital still contracts for many services, some from local companies and some from out of the area. All of these services are required for our facility to be licensed. We contract for our Licensed f Clinical Social Worker, Dietician, Certified Medical Records Technician, Radiologist, Pathologist, Speech Therapist, Certified Nurse Anesthetist, Physical Therapists and Respiratory Therapists. We have been successful in being the first hospital in Utah to be linked to Telemedicine, where face to face encounters can be made through TI line communication systems. Through telemedicine we are directly linked to the University of Utah Medical Center where we can have immediate access to any specialist there. We can also be linked to any other hospital in the world that has the same capabilities and have access to their specialists. In the area of education we were successful in writing a grant that pays for most of our staff to attend continuing education classes. This has been very successful and has added greatly to the skills of our staff. We were also able to bring college courses into our community that lead to an LPN course being taught here. We were successful in upgrading several of our aids to LPNs which gave them an opportunity to increase their skills, become Licensed and advance in their careers. We have also made an agreement with the University of Utah to be a training facility for their Masters Degree in Social Work. One of our community members is currently enrolled and should finish next year. We have added another instrument to our radiology department. We were able this year to purchase an Ultra Sound machine. We now are able to do ultrasounds and have the top of the line, an instrument that can do blood flow studies as well as other diagnostic testing. Historical Tidbits Memorial WeekL... ....... , By Norman Baxter: Memorial Week is the time that we remember and honor our loved ones that have preceded us. But, I wonder how often we think of our service men that went off to war but never returned? Those men did not come back to marry, raise a family and to enjoy the life that we have been privileged to have. They can only live on in our memories to be honored or dishonored. World War I. My memory does not go back that far so I do not know of those that did not return. World War II: Othello Baker, I believe he died somewhere in the Pacific. He was much like his Dad who could dance all night and never tire. Every lady knew that she would dance with him at least once in the evening. Abe Griffiths, a fine young man and liked by everyone. He had a twin sister. Abe was lost at sea in the Pacific when his ship was sunk. Jacob Weber, just a boy when I knew him. I don't know where he was killed. Bud Baxter, my cousin. Bud was a small boy but the Army changed him into a tall lt man. Bud died at the Battle of the Bulge and is buried in a Military Cemetery in Luxembourg. TTte Korean War: Quiet little Howard Stewart I remember him running around Stewart's Feed Store. His mother called him Howie, so everyone else did too. Howie was Missing In Action (MIA). When I hear that MIA's have been seen in Siberia, I wonder, could it be Howie?????? Vietnam War: Kim Bird, such a likeable nice boy, tall and handsome. He was killed in Viet Nam. The Cold War: Robert Glenn, a neighbor boy that we all knew well. He was killed when the bomber that he served on crashed near the Arctic Circle in Canada. The Gulf War: Jeff Rollins. I didn't know him well, but knew his wonderful parents and grandparents. But, this is all past history, isn't it? We must get on with our lives. And we are doing a good job of it, too! There are no plaques for the WWI, Korean, Vietnam or Gulf Wars. The old WWI cannon that overlooked the High School Hill for many has years ..a French 75mm with the year 1917 stamped on it been cast aside. You will find it outside the fence on the northwest corner of the football field. Then there were the parks so laboriously worked on by the WWI Vets. When completed they were given to the city. The city sold one, where the motel and restaurant are located. Now the other one on the hill is in danger. There are plans to make it part of the cemetery. We have known for forty years that our cemetery was limited. As bait they are saying that it won't be necessary to remove all of the trees. Of course they will. Those sixty year old evergreens have root systems as great as the tree. Then there is this dilly of an offer. They will set a portion aside for Veterans. Isn't that nice? What about the spouses and family of the Veteran? But why are they attempting to deal with the living Veterans? These parks were given to the city in Trust by the WWI Vets. I don't know who is behind this movement but will say to each one.. ..Shame on You! well-bui- . |
