Local and Social Items MRS RUDY MILLER HOSTESS TO FRIENDS The members of the G. S. S. club met on Wednesday afternoon CIVIC CLUB REPORTS Mrs. Beth Laub was hostess last Thursday afternoon to the ladies of the Tremonton Civic league at her home. The various committees of the organization reported their activities, and the members feel proud of the activities and accomplishments of the past year. Three new members were welcomed to the organization. They are: Mrs. Sid Johnson, Mr3. Harry Miller and Mrs. Vaughn Was-soMusical numbers given on the program included two piano solos by Naome Mason, and a violin solo by Valeea Crowther with Mrs. George Quinney accompanying. The next meeting of the League will be on May 4th, and will be the annual Installation luncheon. F. Club Feted Mrs. R. Z, Heppler delightfully entertained for the ladies of the V. G. F. club at her home on Wednesday evening. The ladies spent the evening in needlework and social chat, and the hostess served a delicious luncheon in the late evening. FETED Mrs. R. G. Woodhead was hostess Wednesday evening at a Bridge party at her home. A delicious luncheon was served and two tables were in play for the evening. Prizes went to Mrs. Mel Foxley, Mrs. Jack Shumway and Mrs. Wesley Gephart came Brigham city. The Miller's 17 here some years ago. Bishop and Mrs. Clarence Fryer have as their house guest their aunt, a sister of Mrs. Potter of Tremonton. Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Ault received a letter from their daughter, Mrs. John Becker of Salt Lake city saying she was leaving Wednesday to visit her husband who is stationed in Loncoln, Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Burbank received letters from their sons, Lowell and Kenneth, who are homewhere in the Pacific serving our country, saying they were well and thinking about all the folks at home. Phyllis Fryer was in Logan Thursday shopping. clinic was held A Thursday afternoon at the school house for 16 youngsters who will be enrolled next school year. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Heus3er of Ogden visited relatives here over Mrs. E. H. Furse and son, Pvt. Eldon Furse, of Salt Lake, were visiting Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Sea-ge- r Thursday. Pvt. Furse is home on furlough and they came to bring good wishes to their another and grandmother on her birthday anniversary. Private Vern J. Hansen who is in training there. The Y. G. L. club met Thursday evening in Tremonton with Miss Verda Johnson as hostess. Miss Bertha Landvatter reviewed the book, "The Apostle." The group enjoyed a pleasant social hour during the remainder of the evening. Miss Ardis Adams went to Ogden Tuesday to see her brother, Carroll, who is still quite ill. Mr. and Mrs. Don Bourne and son Larry, of Brigham city, spent Sunday and Monday with relatives here and in Clarkson on Sunday. An unusual family gathering was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Rhodes, Sunday in honor of their son, Sergeant Dale Rhodes, who is home on furlough, and son Lee, who is soon to go in the service. The family consists of nine boys and five girls, one son, Dan having died in infancy. All of the living children were present except Ray who is in the service overseas. Of the sixteen grandchildren, thirteen were present. Only three were Max Germer, of Ogden, was a guest of his mother, Mrs. Anna daughter, Ruby and son Elias and wife and in Sabetha, Kansas with her father, Samuel Inthurn and other relatives. Mrs. Landvatter was in Denver to attend the recent marriage of Elias and continued on to Kansas to complete her visit. She reports a very enjoyable trip. 1944 noon. EAST GARLAND in thier new location in Brigham city. We also welcome the family of Mr. and Mrs. Allred to our community. Jesse L. Roberts, seminary teacher, and a group of his students gave the program in Sunday evening church service. Those taking part beside Mr. Roberts were: Monette Henry, Zella Hill, Carol Allen and Eugene Hansen. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Boothe and children, of Ogden, were Saturday and Sunday guests at the D. E. Adams home. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Holman and Mrs. Sophia Larson visited relatives in Ogden, Sunday after- 4 their home and farm last week to Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert AUred of land and daughter, Edna, returned Saturday from a six weeks' visit with relatives in North and South Carolina. While in the East they visited in eighteen different cities and towns. They report very little activity in the fields after they left Utah. Mer-ily- BRIDGE CLUB I Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Westmore- SIMADA STUDY GROUP ENTERTAINED Irene Morris was hostess to the Simada Study Group last week. Plans were discussed concerning the annual dinner, held in Salt Lake City to terminate the spring study sessions. Early Drama and Drama of the twentieth century were the study topics discussed. Leading the disn cussion were Irene Morris and Leavitt. All ten of the charter members were present. LITERARY CROUP MEETS LiterThe Tremonton-Garlan- d ary club was graciously entertained last Thursday evening by Dorothy Capener at her home in Garland.
