He stressed the necessity of vigilance in the care of the child's eyes during their school years and of early treatment by competent people where any defects are found. One of the problems, he said, was the finding of activity for blind people. The fact that they cannot see does not bring the regret that inactivity does and therefore he hoped that the time would come when more, attention would be paid to giving them some of the pleasures of life by supplying the activitis and recreational features they could enjoy. For more than a quarter of a century, this outstanding blind citizen of the state has devoted his life's work for the benefit of the sightless.
