Atkinson, returned to Salt Lake Saturday. She was accompanied by her cousin Luella Atkinson, who will visit for a week in Salt Lake. Mrs. Alva Rhodes and children and Master Roy Barnard of Los Angeles, were visiting with relatives and friends at Brigham City, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. C O. On Tuesday, Relief Society meeting was held at the home of President Ida Peterson. The time was spent in quilt making. A delicious tray luncheon was served. The guest of her sister, Mrs. Clarence Anderson. Miss Frances Wight is spending the week at Layton, the guest of her aunt, Mrs. John G. Watt. Ethel Holmgren of Tremonton had her tonsils removed August 14. Rudgar Forsgren of Bothwell is in the hospital for treatment for a bad wound received from a hay fork that was run deeply into his leg. Sorensen. The residence of James Miller has been greatly improved by the addition of asphalt shingles. ht Utah Crop Report August 1, 1929 Utahs crop prospects improved generally during July. The outlook is for larger crops of grains and hay than .usual, but for smaller crops of orchard fruits and sugar beets. Conditions the first of August indicated a production of 5,671,000 bushels of wheat this year compared with 6,861,000 in 1928 and a five year average of 5,431,000. The oat crop is now forecast at 2,242,000 bushels compared with 2,475,000 last year and a five-yeaverage of while barley is expected to yield 1,632,000 bushels this year, as against 1,666,000 in 1928 and an ar 855,000 bushels. Alfalfa hay is now forecast at 1,419,000 tons; the crop of 1928 was 1,275,000 tons and the average crop for five years was 1,395,000 tons. All hay is expected to amount to 1,623,000 tons this year, compared with 1,500,000 in 1928 and a five-yeaverage of 1,627,000 tons. Orchard fruits were injured by frosts in the spring and have not had a favorable season. The total apple crop is forecast at 660,000 bushels, compared with 880,000 last year; and the commercial portion of the crop this year is expected to amount to 423,000 bushels compared with the commercial crop of 570,000 in 1928. The peach crop is now forecast at 0 510,000 bushels, compared with last year and a average of 553,000. Pears are expected to amount this year to 83,000; last year the croD was 87.000 bushels and the average production was 000. The cherrv croo this vear is now estimated to have amounted to 4,000 tons, or 6,000 less than the crop of 1928 and 6,000 less than the average of the past several years. Sugar beets improved during July, the condition on August 1 was 87 per cent of normal, and on July 1 it was 81, However a year ago on August 1 the condition was 88 per cent. The acreage planted this year was 7,000 less than in 1928; so that, with the lower condition, the beet production this year is not expected to be much over half a million tons. R. Gibson in honor of Mrs. Bruce Guild, formerly Miss Alta Miller who is leaving to make her home in Los Angeles, California. During the evening games were played and radio music was enjoyed, after which a delicious luncheon was served to Mr, and Mrs. It. V. Gibson, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Checkers; Mr. and Mrs. James P.
