The decorations throughout the house were of roses. The predicament of the two society youths maidens who recently took two blonde-haireinto a well known cafe illustrates the old axiom that it is a fatal mistake to be without money. It happened that the twTo maids were particularly hungry, and they ordered a very delicate and elaborate menu. The two youths looked at each other across the table with expressions of poignant grief and despair upon their faces. But, by rare good fortune, one of the gilded boys had a wheel outside, and it is now a matter of great surprise among his erstwhile friends that the jrouth with the spangled bicycle suit no longer mounts his silent steed. d Mr. and Mrs. William Reid entertain this evening in honor of their wedding anniversary. The affair is to be a bicycle tea, and wTill undoubtedly be as dainty and thoroughly enjoyable as Mrs. Reid's entertainments always are. The guests will meet at the south entrance to the . park at 5 :30 and ride till 7, when they will return to the home in Red Butte Hollow and a high tea will be served at small tables. The menu cards are to be dainty water colored bicycle pictures and the decorations all of pink and white roses, carnations and smilax. Mr. and Mrs. Reids invited guests are : Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Holden. Mr. and Mrs. Sprague, Mr. and Mrs. Bidwell, Dr. and Mrs. Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. Robertson, Mr. and Mrs. M. C. The High School students gave a lake party last evening, the car leaving the depot at 7 :30 and returning at 10. Supper was served at the resort. Another wedding to take place on the 16th of this month is that of Mrs. Stevenson and Lieu- tenant Jenks. Mrs. Richard A. Keyes gave a charming luncheon yesterday afternoon in honor of Mrs. J. C. Conklin. The table was very prettily decorated in roses and a delicious menu was served to the following ladies : Mesdames J. C. Conklin, Penrose, Wallace, Bennett, W. H. Bancroft, C. C. Goodwin, Thomas Marshall, Horn. Mrs. Shaffers two card parties, on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Clark of Denver, were very delightful entertainments in every way. The decorations for the two evenings were similar and consisted of great masses of roses, sunflowers, palms, chrysanthemums and morning glories. The hall and library were in green and white morning glories, smilax and Bego lilies being used in every conceivable wayupon chandeliers, tables, mantles and draperies, producing a cool and dainty effect. The drawing room was in yellow and white roses, smilax and morning glories ; the mantle was banked from top to botton in branches of yellow roses and the lace curtains were studded with single flowers ; the chandeliers were twined with smilax and the globes covered with yellow and white chrysanthemums, while white morning glories trailed over tables laden ; The dining room was especially pretty in pink roses and smilax. The prizes, consisting of large bunches of flowers, were won on Tuesday evening by Mrs. Briuker, Mr. Clark, Mrs. King and Mr. Colburn. The invited guests for that evening were Mr. and Mrs. Rood, Dr. and Mrs. King, Judge and Mrs. Bowman, Mr. James McGregor, Mr. and Mrs. Yollmer, Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter, Mr. Frank Wadleigh, Mr. and Mrs. Brinker, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hobbs, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brink, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Matterson Whitney, Dr. and Mrs. Edgar Colburn. Mrs. Shaffer was assisted on Tuesday evening by Mrs. Brink. with roses and palms. On Wednesday evening Mrs. Shaffer again entertained in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Clark and was assisted by her daughter, Mrs. Pearse. Among the guests were Messrs, and Mesdames Dignowity, Frank Roberts, Lyons, Hale, Stuart, Dale, Foulks, Snow, Knight, Pearse, Eckers, Germain, Mrs. Dwight of California, Dr. and Mrs. Douglas, Mr. George Slater, Mr. and Mrs. Genter, Miss Jessie Colburn, Mr. Franken, Mr. Loomis, Mr. Coverdale, Miss Boehuer. Prizes were awarded Mrs. Dignowity, Dr. Douglas, Mrs. Knight and Mr. Slater. Most delightful music was furnished by the mandolin club on both evenings. -- Those present at the 63 party Friday evening were Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Ewing, Judge and Mrs. Sherman, Mr. and Mrs. Knickerbocker, Mr. and Mrs. Cole. SOCIAL NOTES. Miss Lennie Savage expects to go East soon. Mrs. R. A. Keyes will spend next week in Park City. Mrs. A. F. Holden expects to leave for New York soon. Mrs. Charles H. Post expects to leave for the East The first wedding of the summer season was that of Miss Juno Sprague and Mr. Percy Sadler, which took place on Thursday evening at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Sprague. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. G. McXiece, in the north parlor, which was very beautifully decorated in pink roses and orange blossoms, a canopy of flowers being arranged where the bridal party stood. Miss Mamie Porter played the Mendelssohn weddiug march at the appointed hour, and the bridal party came down the stairs, Miss Winnifred Sprague as maid of honor, the bride, and Miss June Sadler as brides-riiaiAt the foot of the stairs they were met by the groom and his best man, Mr. Albert Allen. The bride wore a dainty gown of accordion pleated mousseline de soie over white taffeta made with high neck and trimmed with pearl, and the veil was of mousseline de soie clasped with a rose. Miss Winnifred Sprague and Miss June Sadler were gowned in white organdie over cerisse silk and carried pink roses. Following the ceremony a large reception was held . The guests were received by Mrs. Sprague, Mrs. Sadler and Mrs. Jackman, assisted by Miss Claire Clawson and Miss Florence Terhune. After bestowing good wishes upon the bride and groom the guests passed out upon the lawn, where a dancing floor was laid, lit by hundreds of Japanese lanterns. Later an elaborate supper was served in the dining room, which was very pretty in pink and white roses and smilax. Mr. and Mrs. Sadler will be at home in a few weeks in their new home, 62 Second street. d. Mrs. C. H. Jacobs entertained very delightfully on Thursday afternoon at a book title hunt from 1 :30 to 3 :30 and from 1 to 6, followed by a 63 party Friday evening. The rooms were beautifully decorated in yellow roses, the tables in carnations and sweet peas. Mrs. Jacobs was assisted in receiving her guests by Mrs. Plummer and Mrs. Ewing. The tables were presided over assisted by by Mrs. Powis and Mrs. L. D. Lee, Miss Allie Paul and Miss Davis. Those present at the afternoons were Mesdames Plummer, Ewing, Joyne, Robinson, Yarian, Knox, Henry , Kimball, Martin, E. 0 Lee, L. D. Lee, Evans, Baldwin, Post, Easton, Winons, Yonalstine, Graham, Tuttle, Peyton, Hobart, Powis, Clark, Rowe, Brown, Fritz, Officer, Trent, - Gleason, Paul, Davis, Moore, Sowles, Jones, Lyman, Davis. The first prizes were won by Mrs. Vonal-stin- e and Mrs. Trent; second prizes by Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Easton. to-nigh- t. Mrs. Wells of Helena, Mont., is visiting her mother, Mrs. Sadler. Mr. and Mrs. Keyes expect as their guest this week Colonel Bisbee. Mr. Salisbury Gilmer returned from Colorado on Thursday morning. Miss Kate Williams returned from Bryn Mawr during the week. Mrs. Hoyt Sherman will entertain next week at a morning card party. Mrs. M. C. Fox entertains the Dollar Club this afternoon at luncheon. Mrs. C. H. Jacobs entertained very delightfully on Thursday afternoon. Mr. Harry Roberts and Mr. Frank Roberts have returned from California. Miss Lottie Levy leaves for London . where she will cultivate her voice. Mr. R. A. Keyes wTent to Pocatello on Thursday night to be absent about a week. Mrs. A. H. Peabody leaves next week for Laramie, to be gone for several months. Miss Bransford of Boston will arrive this week on a visit to her sister, Mrs. S. B. Emery. Mrs. Henry C. Mitchell of Toledo, O., is visiting her sister, Mrs. Deane C. McGraff. Mrs. Kirkpatrick and the Misses Kirkpatrick have returned to Salt Like to spend the summer. Mrs. Thomas Carter has gone East on account of the sudden illness of her sister, Mrs. Seeley. First Lieutenant Lewis M. Koehler, Ninth cavalry, from Fort Duschene, was a visitor at the Post last week. Mrs. J. C. Conklin and the Misses Conklin leave for an extended trip through California early next week. Miss Field of Denver, who has been the guest of Colonel and Mrs. Donnellan, returned to her home during the week. Mrs. A. B. Richardson entertained informally at cards on Tuesday evening in honor of Mrs. Stevenson and Lieutenant Jenks; Mrs. Amanda Swensen and. Professor Anton Pederson have issued invitations to a recital to be be given at the Theater on June 7th. Mrs. Greenwood gave a childrens party on Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 5 in honor of her little daughters birthday, and about twenty children were present.
