Show n t THE ARGUS. 14 PERILS MINING DEPARTMENT. THE WEEK IN M1NINC1. Stagnation has been a foot deep on change for the past six days. ' The week came in like one lamb and went out like another'. Blue Monday was not the only blue day. There was a redeeming feature in the sales Thursday. On Saturday, one week ago they were fair. Galena and Geyser were favorites and bidding on the former ran up as high as 94 cents. Bullion-Becstarted in sluggishly but picked up wonderfully toward the middle of the week. Creole Was ought at 45 cents but held at 60. South Swansea suffered from an encounter with the bears. Mercur was inactive, although there were plenty of buyers anxious to give $7.65 for it. Little Pittsburg and Homestake held their own. The break in Daly stock was the only sensational feature ; it was taken in by Ed Sheets at $3.50 although a dividend is expected next month payable on July 1st, the day on which it is due, according to the plan some time ago decided on by the board of directors. Owing to the fact that the directors of the Mercur Mining company met this week and declared dividend Xo. 28, of $25,000, payable next week, Mercur continued to advance, and although ,$7.80 was bid, not a. share was loosened up. Northern Light advanced to 93 cents, while Herschel was an offering at 10 cents on Wednesday. Centennial Eureka was made an offering at $42 on the same day and Bullion-Beccould have been had at $6.25. Galena was dull at 95 cents, and South Swansea dropped to $1.70 asked, with 6 cents bid for Four Aces. Thursday 200 Bullion-Becshares were picked up in two lots at $6.00, 3500 of Little Pittsburg at 4, 1000 of Tetro at 4 cents, 1000 of Emerald at 5 and a number of smaller sales were made. k k k ORE AND BULLION. They will be put to work on the New East Tin-ti- c roadbed, straightening out some of the worst curves, after 'which they will be employed in grading the new branch to the North Star.' The new compressor has been received for the Sioux-Ajapipe line and , will be put in at the Sioux mill at once, says the Record. ' When this new air line is in operation it is probable that another drill will be put to work in the tunnel and the progress of that project will be much hastened. . x IT IS BIGGER THAN EVER.
