This river, by actual measurements made by Samuel Fortier for the Geological Survey, is capable of irrigating in the driest seasons 200,000 acres. The photograph shows the source of the Bear River Canal U.S. an enterprise that has cost $2,000,000. On the right, the trestle work of the U. P. Logan canyon is famous for its scenic beauty. Itis also the source of an electric energy that drives the mills of Logan and lights its streets, and threatens to run railway trains to Ogden. It is also the principal irrigating stream of Cache valley, and after giving life to the farms in that valley its waters drain into Bear River, and thence —— + mandiany 3 o% eens give riches to the farms and farmers of Box Elder county.
