McCornlcks Dank IS DISTINCTIVELY ANTI-MOTHE TRIBUNE and tor the last twelve years has waged au unceasing warfare against the vicious doctrines taught and practiced In the Mormon Church. It also devotes a larg? share of its space to the mining interests of Utah and the surrounding gold and silver mining districts, having special correspondents who furnish reliable data from every camp of any importance. As an advertising medium it has no peer between Chicago and San Francisco. Address: R . Commenting on the lecture of Prof. Newberry on the great coal and iron mines of Utah, the San Francisco Bulletin says: All pioneer enterprises fare hard for a time. Many of them do not succeed for lack of capital or skill, or because the natural advantages were not great enough. But one can hardly read such an account of the iron and coal resources as Prof. Newberry gives of Utah, without the conviction that such advantages will invite capital and enterprise at no distant day. The search has, heretofore, been for what are called the precious metals for silver and gold mines and the search was never prosecuted with more vigor than now. The great army of explorers are not looking for iron mines, and if they happen to find them, rarely consider them worthy of any extended notice. Fifty iron furnaces in Utah would hardly make an impression on the market on this side of the country, if railroad construction is to go on at the present rate. The demand for iron and steel is subject to the same laws as other commercial articles. In the long run, to buyers go the cheapest and best markets. They figure closely. A few shillings a ton will turn the scale. The guild of Utah iron manufacturers has not yet made its appearance.
