I am so sorry that Mr. Hastings missed the point of my letter. He cited statistics and research which indicate that a nuclear family with bread-winner father and stay-at-home mother is the optimal op-timal unit for raising children. Of course it is. No one is disputing dis-puting that. That is what many women who work would like to have. However, it is not realistic real-istic for many. The point of my article was that families who don't fit the mold, who cannot can-not have a traditional nuclear family, whether from divorce, being widowed, or economic necessity, should not be made to feel that they are substandard substan-dard and not "ideal." Many people have circumstances circum-stances that make this a non- viable situation. They already feel badly because they don't have this optimal "family setting." set-ting." Why do we want to make them feel worse? I want to reaffirm that I think this does not belong on the Alpine City Council agenda. I would call your attention to the problems that have plagued Kanab since they adopted this resolution. It has pitted neighbors against neighbors and citizens agaiast the city council. It has been divisive for them. It has aLso garnered national press which has made Kanab look like a narrow-minded and unfriendly un-friendly place. Again, I work with children who do not fit the traditional family mold through no choice Bereavement group meetings in March and April A bereavement group meeting for individuals who have lost a loved in the past two years will be held in Orem on four consecutive consecu-tive Thursdays, beginning March 23 and ending April 13. School Psychologist Alpine School District Lehi mayor doing great job on roads Editor: I would like to commend our new Lehi mayor for taking much needed and long overdue over-due action towards getting some new roads built in Lehi. Even though the city is about ten years behind the curve, something needs to be done immediately to alleviate the traffic problems and resulting inconvenience Lehi residents are forced to endure. ALso, county and state governments gov-ernments along with UDOT should be held accountable for allowing the mess to occur in the first place through their inept ness and failure to plan for the traffic created by the incredible growth west of Lehi. Complaints voiced by the city council for the mayor's failure to consult them before he took action seems hardly valid, due to the council's past history of doing nothing to solve the problem. I couldn't believe the council would bring up the old argument argu-ment that a freeway below town would not be good, because be-cause it would divide the city. This is simply an old worn-out argument, or actually a red herring, that was used back in years throughout the county, will conduct the meetings which will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at a home at 70 M) South in Orem "Bereavement groups are more than a place where you sit around and feel sorry for yourself," your-self," Hansen said. "You learn that you are alone, and this period of Hfe can be a the early sixties when 1-15 was under construction. The time for illogical concerns con-cerns and discussions is over. We need new roads and those responsible for the mess in the first plate need to have their feet held to fire until they resolve re-solve the problem. I Julian Mercer.
