The Scorch shared the regular league title in the eight -team X league, the highest competitive division, according to coach Shirl LeBaron. The Scorch finished the league 6-1, having forfeited one game to participate in the Top of Utah Holiday Tournament in Smithf ield, which they also won. Other teams participating in the Dimple Dell league were Bingham, Brighton, Whiplash (West Jordan), Dawgs (Judge Memorial), Jammers (Davis), Avalanche and Pump 'n Run (Salt Lake area all-star teams). LeBaron also led the league in 3-point field goals with 16 and was also one of the top ' free throw shooters with an 89 percent average. Seeded No. 1 in the tournament, the Scorch took on the Dawgs from Judge Memorial in the quarterfinals. The Scorch jumped out early, holding the opponent scoreless in the first period and winning 49-31 while limiting the Judge team to 34 percent shooting and forcing 20 turnovers. Wilson (13 points) and Austin Waddoups (10) led the Scorch in scoring. Ryan Christofferson and Waddoups also had four assists each. In the semifinals, the Scorch defeated the West Jordan Whiplash Whip-lash 24-20 in a defensive, physical game. The Scorch had 20 steals, with Christofferson having eight thefts and scoring 7 points. In the championship game, the Scorch took on Bingham. The Scorch out -rebounded Bingham 28-17 and held them to 33 percent shooting. Wilson and Tanner LeBaron had 12 points each, with LeBaron hitting three treys and making five steals. Waddoups Wad-doups clipped in 11 points with three 3-pointers in a row. Kadan McMurtrey added five assists, eight rebounds and three blocks.
