Show FagtS NORTH COUNTY NEWSPAPERS Thursday, February 16, 2006 Alpine District names principles for new schools The Alpine School District Board of Educatkxi has named principals for three new elementary elemen-tary schools (jpening in August Ken Higgins, currently principal prin-cipal of Barratt Elementary, will open tiie new school in north-east north-east Highland. Higgins has been recognized by Utah State for his work with reading. His supervisor, John Burton, Administrator K-6 Schools Central, Cen-tral, said, "Ken's enthusiasm for education is contagious. Those around him can't help but be excited about helping children learn as they focus on high quality qual-ity outcome." Karl Bowman will open the school located in the I larvest Hills area of Saratoga Springs. Bowman has served Alpine District Dis-trict as a teacher and principal for 20 years. "Admired and respected in every community in which he served, Mr. Bowman is an instructional leader," stated Kathy Porter, Administrator K-6 K-6 SchtxAs. Jeanne Bates will open the new school in east Lehi. Bates has served as an administrator in Alpine for 13 years. She has experience at all three leveLs: high school, middle school and elementary scbrxJ. Currently serving at Meadow Elementary, Bates has been an instructional leader focusing on math and literacy. "1 ler enthusiasm and love for children endears her to parents, students and teachers," reported report-ed Michael Pratt, Administrator K-6 Schools North. "While we will miss her at Meadow, she possesses skills to bring together togeth-er a new schtxJ community." The first task the new principals face is organizing their PTA. More information is available at the center, 763-3090. LEHI I Audiology clinic The au- diologist Brent Fox will be sponsoring a hearing clinic at the Lehi Senior Center, 123 N. Center St., from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Feb. 23. I Free dink Kensington Home Medical is sponsoring a health clinic at no charge on March 1 at the center. Staff will be giving blood sugar checks, blood pressure readings, read-ings, heart rate monitoring and oxygen readings for free. More information on the service ser-vice is available at 471-8869. I Rides available Round trip rides are available to and from the center for a minimal fee and can be arranged by calling 427-2030. The senior center is open Monday through Friday except holidays, with Bingo at 1 130 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays. Fri-days.
