First the group stop ped at the LD-8. Children's Hoa-pltal Hoa-pltal to dellTer five books which the club donated to the hospital library. While there, the club members toured the hospital. From the hospital, the group went to the home of Bishop Les Ooates, uncle of club president Mrs. DaTld J. Wells. Bishop Ooates of the East Mill Creek Ward is widely known for his column In the Deseret News. He told about writing his column and also explained the process Involved in his present responsibility responsi-bility of publishing the Church News. .He explained the process of layout from written copy to publication. Mrs. Ooates served refresh ments to the 13 members who were present. Two new members. Mrs. June Ash of Pleasant Grove and Mrs.. Cleo Nuhlestein, were welcomed into the club. fire Ladles Auxiliary The American Fork Fire Ladles Auxiliary met at the summer home of Mrs. Clyde Birk In Tibbie Tib-bie Fork last Thursday. An election of officers was held. The new officers elected were Mrs. Ronald Bates, president, and Mrs. John Varney, vice president. Mrs. Clyde Birk, historian and reporter, report-er, and Mrs. Warren Anderson, secretary, were reelected. The retiring officers were Mrs. Len-ard Len-ard Kelly, president, and Mrs. Francis Anderson, vice president. Fall flowers decorated the table on which a delicious tur key dinner was served to a group of sixteen. Games were played following the dinner. Mrs. Dee Thrasher and Mrs. Leo Var ney worr the prizes. Fork Junior Chamber 'of .Commerce Ladles met last Thursday evening at the Alpine Orlll. The business of the meeting was conducted by Mrs. Harold Anderson, president. By vote the group decided to change the regular, meeting time from the first Thursday to the second Thursday of the month. A decision was also made for the American Fork J. C. Ladles to play hostess to an lnterclub party to be held the second Thursday In November. All members mem-bers of the Ladles Jaycees throughout the state will be Invited In-vited to the party. Each mem ber of the American Fork Club! have pledged to make this the, most outstanding social event of , the year, according to Mrs. Sher- j man vnruuansen. Mrs. Corey introduced Lucille Wootton, who gave a book review ' on "The Hidden Flower" by Pearl ; S. Buck. Twenty members were present to enjoy'the occasion. Literary League The opening fall party for the Literary League was held at the ' summer home of Mrs. Walter Devey Monday afternoon. The ladles gathered at 5 p. m. to en- oy visiting and the granduer of the scenery. A steak dinner was serving table. Following dinner, President Dr-Vjy welcomed the guest and introduced the theme, "The Preservation of Our American Heritage". Oroup singing by firelight was directed by LaRoe to Mrs. Moruwn were Mrs Sadie Singleton, Mrs. Vlrgla War- nick, and Mrs. Ada Burratt. A history of Mrs. Libble Varney was given by her granddaughtfr-ln-law, Alta Varney. Tamela Fox played "Miss Twinkle Toes." a Van Wagoner.
