Homecoming Draws Hundreds More former resident and out of town frienda of Alpine visited there for the Seventh Annual Homecoming than In any past year, it was reported by, Bishop Reld Burgess following the very full day of entertainment Satur day. The event has been spon sored for the past six years by the ward bishopric of the IDS Church. It was estimated that more than 1200 out of town people re turned for some part of the day which opened In the early morn Ing with a band serenade. The miniature parade, under the direction of the Primary, drew the plaudits of the throngs who crowded the streets as the 41 lovely floats passed In revue. In addition to the king1 and queen who reigned over the affair, af-fair, there was a Miss Utah, Miss Alpine, the Mayor of the day, the Marshall of the Day, besides numerous characters from real life and story book tales. Over 200 children took part in the parade. The busy cooks and their help ers who prepared the bounteous dinner at noon and were kept busy for two hours serving the 300 persons who sat down In the dining hall of the church to eat. The sports committee kept the crowd entertained all through the afternoon with unique and Interesting events." The milking contest for the women created a lot of fun and relay races, polo, and musical chair by horsemen on their well groomed mounts held attention during the equestrian equest-rian show. The, boys were especially Interested In-terested In the pie eating con test and catching the greased pig. The talent show presented In the evening drew a crowd of between 400 and 500 persona. The ward bishopric extends tnanks to all who helped In any way to make the day a success ahd bids welcome back to all who visited there that day. Class of 1943 Holds Reunion At Granite Flat The Senior Class of 1943 met Saturday evening at Oranlte Flat in American Fork Canyon for Its tenth anniversary. First part of the evening was spent renewing o 1 d acquaintances, making new one and talking over old times. After a delicious meal the group gathered around the camp fire for a program with Gareth Seastrand acting as master of ceremonies. Rulon Williamson, class president, took charge of election of officers for the next get-to-gether. James B. Nelson was elected chairman; Duane Durrant, vice chairman; Jay Holdsworth, secretary; and Mrs. Rex Wrlde (Beth Ovard), pro gram chairman. The school song was sung, Du ane Durrant paid tribute to Paul Edwards and Howard Rob erts, members who have passed on; a skit was given by Mrs. Ir- vln M. Chlpman (Norma Par- duhn), Mrs. Dean Chrtstensen (Louise Chrtstenaenl, Mrs. Calvin Cal-vin Mills (May belle Beck), and Mrs. Wendell P. Hansen (La Von Bennett). "The Little Red School House" was sung by Mrs. Ted Barratt. Mrs. L. Dean Bennett (Owen. Preston), Mrs. Darrell Rhodes (Beverly Clark) and Mrs. William B. Sykes (Margaret Prlday), with Mrs. Hansen as ac companist. Dee R. Hunter, Paul Shelley, Oareth Seastrand and Bill 8yks put on a skit from the men's section, and a "Flashback of the Senior Class" was read by Mr. 8ykes. The closing skit was f by Parley Varney, Jay Holdsworth, Darrell Rhodes and L. Dean Bennett. Prize were given for various distinctions and everyone reported re-ported a good time. The commit tee la appreciative to all who came and to those who contributed contri-buted In any way to the succesa of the evening. MIAActivities Mia Maids to Sing At. Nlssley. r- Sarah Seibel and Carol Jean Molascon returned home Monday Mon-day after spending a week at Lake Tahoe, Cal., as delegates to the Utah-Nevada-Callfornla Presbyterian Youth Conference. The meet was attended by 160 young people from the three states. Mrs. Merlene Throolln and children, Hal and Linda left Saturday for San Francisco where she will resume her work in the San Lorenso district In speech correction.
