"Mrs. Donna sorensen of Salt Cake, was sustained as a member of the General Board of the Relief Society at the semi-annual conference of the auxiliary organization in Salt Lake last week. Mrs. Sorensen is a graduate grad-uate of the B. Y. U. and taught In the local high school for several years. A shower was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Bennett last Friday night In honor of Vlra Mae Bennett and LaVar Holdaway of Vineyard. The evening was spent In Dlaylnar progressive games, prizes be ing won by Mrs. George B6oUand Mrs. Clyde Blrk. Lunch was served to forty guests. The young couple received many beautiful gifts and words of advice. Mrs. Lyle Grant attended a meet ing of the state librarians held In the Public Library In Salt Lake City last Monday . Last Wednesday night Miss Leona Kelly was pleasantly surprised when she arrived home from the office to find a number of her friends had a hot dinner all prepared and places set for herself, Alice Parker, Lillian Booth, Edna Boley, Rhoda Parker, Oma Mitchell and Pearl Robinson. After dinner the evening was spent In social chat. Mrs. Mark Osterloh and two chil dren of Bakersfleld, California, who have been visiting here at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Birk, have returned to their home. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Birch made the return trip with Mrs. Osterloh and visited In San Francisco and Boulder on their way home, taking ten days for the trip. Mrs. Vera Thompson, Mrs. Mary Anderson and Mrs. Nora Ingersoll attended a meeting of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers held in the Hotel Utah last Saturday. At the two sessions of the convention 6ome very valuable Instructions were given and the election of officers for the next two years was made. Mrs Ingersoll was chosen for the position posi-tion of assistant corresponding secretary secre-tary for the next two years. Under the direction of the Sun shine committee of the First ward a party, In honor of Mrs. Leonard Haag, was given Tuesday afternoon. After the preliminary program at the ward house all present were Invited to the Cozy club where the afternoon was spent In community singing, jokes and music. Mrs. Jarvls Ayde-lotte Ayde-lotte gave a reading and solo numbers num-bers were given by Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. David Conn. In appreciation of her work on the Sunshine committee com-mittee a present was given Mrs. Haag. Refreshments were served to flfty-slx ladles. Mr. and Mr. Jesse Crookaton and Mr, and Mrs. George Scott were visitors m Salt Lake: City on Friday combining business and pleasure. Mrs. J. C. Kirkendal and daughter, daugh-ter, Josephine, of Dividend, were week-end visitors at the home of her father, Niels Nelson, and her sister, Sadie Nelson. Miss Mildred Chlpman, who has i been visiting in California for the past two months, returned home last Thursday. She visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lennls Abel and other friends. A meeting of the Service Star ladles will be held next Wednesday In the City Hall at 2 p. m. All members are urged to be in attendance to aid In the election of officers for the coming year. Some special music has been arranged for. Mrs. Lennis Abel of Huntington Park, California, is visiting here at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. K. J. Bird. Mrs. Abel was formerly form-erly Miss Helen Bird and her many friends will be pleased to learn she will be here until Easter when she will return to her home in California. Califor-nia. Dr. P. M. Kelly and son, Howard, visited Monday in American Fork. Late in the afternoon President and Mrs. Clifford E. Young, Mrs. Maude Christensen and Mrs. Joseph Nlch-oles Nlch-oles accompanied the Kellys to Salt Lake and remained with them until time for their train. Dr. and Mrs, Kelly and daughter, Connie, will visit, their, .othex.. daughter. JEJeMor In Washington, p. C, prior to. their leaving on April 20th for the Swiss-German Swiss-German Mission where Dr. Kelly will act as mission president. Howard Ho-ward returned to St, Anthony, Idaho, where he is employed. The evening was spent in games and social chat and a lunch served at the dose of the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Lott of Up per Darby, Pennsylvania are the proud parents of a baby boy ac cording to word received here by Mrs. Lott's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Stewart. The mother, formerly Miss Lorraine Stewart, and the baby are doing nicely. The Genealogical Society of the First ward held a social after their regular meeting Monday evening at 9 o'clock. Prayer was offered by E. J. Seas tr and and Bertha Schrleber read a poem. Arthur McAllister of the Stake Board was present and gave a talk on Genealogy. D. W. Jones gave two solos, Mrs. Arthur McCallteter gave a reading and the remainder of the time was tinned over to Mr. and Mrs. Steiner for games. Refreshments were served and all reported having a wonderful wonder-ful time.
