The guest speaker will be Mrs. Lloyd Culllmore of Provo who will review "A Yankee From Olympus". Newcomers Bridge Mrs. Olen B. Oordon, 74 Lincoln Lin-coln Avenue, Coluntbla Village, assisted by Mrs. Robert Redfern, entertained the Newcomers Bridge Club Thursday night last. The prizes were won by Mrs. Red-fern, Red-fern, Mrs. Jack McCowan and Mrs. William Sculley. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served. . SS and Mrs. Adrian L. Stewart of Fort Lewis, Washington, Washing-ton, spent last week-end in American Fork visiting with Mrs. Stewart's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chip-man Chip-man and their family. ArUtra Guild The regular monthly meeting of the Arlitra Guild will be-held Monday night next at the home of Mrs. V. F. Houston. Mrs. Stephen Murdock will present the lesson and the topic will be given by Mrs. Wayne Smith. New members will be selected to fill the existing vacancies. Variety Mrs. Rulon Nicholes was hostess hos-tess to the members of the Variety Va-riety Club and several guests last Friday afternoon. Bridge was played at three tables, Mrs. George Moss and Mrs. Owen Humnhiiea canturine the bleb. prizes and Mrs. Dave Cahn the consolation prize. The special guests were Mesdames K. E. Noyes, Fred Carter, A. B. Allen, Owen Humphries and Frank Brown. Dance Set One of the delightful social events of the week just passed was the dancing party given by the Dance Set in Firmage Hall Wednesday, November 15. Baskets Bas-kets of chrysanthemums in various var-ious shades were effectively used in the decorative scheme. In the reception hall was placed a table covered with a lace cloth and centered with a beautiful arrangement of white and bronze "mums". Special entertainment was provided during the evening even-ing by little Miss Jeanne Batch-elor Batch-elor singing, accompanied by Mrs. Wendell Klrkpatrick, and a song by Misses Kay Holmstead, Elaine Dean and Louise Boley accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Alex Karren. Refreshments Re-freshments were served. There were 85 couples in attendance. The coritmittee la charge consisted con-sisted of Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Grant, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Batchclor and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bowen. The next dance will be held on December 20th and the committee com-mittee in charge consists of Mr. and Mrs. Dwlght Packard, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Tuttle, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Storrs. A. A. U. W. To Meet The American Association of University Women will meet at the home of Mrs. John Feagler, 320 Washington St., beginning at 7:45 p. m. next Wednesday eve ning, November 29th. The election of new officers for the ensuing year took place with the following results: Mrs. Henry Hen-ry Chipman, president; Mrs. Wendell Klrkpatrick, secretary; Mrs. Ronald Bate, reporter. Bridge was played, Mrs. Robert Marrott and Mrs. Ronald Bate winning the high score prizes and Mrs. Henry Chipman the low score favor. A delicious hot lunch was served. " The organization of a new con tract bridge club was effected Monday night at the home of Mrs. Phil Cave. The members of the new club are Mesdames Helen Anderson, Faye Graff , La- Von Wing, Be mice CasselL Mary Barratt, Mildred Peters, Helen Bate, June Halstrom and Vera Cave. The prizes were won by Mrs. Peters,, Mrs. Ca&sell and Mrs. Wing. The next meeting will be held December 7th at the home of Mrs. Barratt at which time a name will be selected. State Health Report Lists Diseases For the week ending November 17, state health officers and phy sicians reported a total of 298 cases of communicable diseases among residents and 51 nonresi dent cases. The number of cases of measles, German measles, and scarlet fev er is unusually low for this time of year. Twenty-one cases of influenza were reported from Davis and Iron counties. It is encouraging to note that only 5 cases of pneumonia were Included in the report, 4 of whom are nonresidents. The total resident and nonresident non-resident cases of communicable diseases for the week was as fol low: chlckenpox, 145; Influenza, 22; measles, 4; German measles 5; epidemic meningitis, 1; mumps 55; pneumonia, 5; scarlet fever, 15; tuberculosis, 5; whooping cough, 12; gonorrhea, -43; syphilis, syphi-lis, 30; malaria fever, 3; rheumatic rheu-matic feer, 1, and chancroid, 3.
