Thompson, according to officers, first attracted attention at Orem. He Waa in need of gasoline and' offered his spare tire for fuel and oil at the Orem Service station. The car, a 1923 Chevrolet touring, carried a Utah license plate and the service station man apparently did not suspicion him until he had gone. : Thinking the matter oyer he decided decid-ed that there waa a possibility that things might not be Just they seemed,' and immediately notified the sheriff a office. Deputy 8herlff Karl Boshard was dispatched to investigate the case, and by hard "driving he caught the car, between Pleasant Grove and Americas Fork, Thompson, when arrested was not dismayed, but stated that the car was turned .over to him by a friend in 8alt Lake City, and that he had driven to Utah county, where for some days past he had been picking pick-ing applea. ' Questioning by Deputy Boshard resulted in conflicting statements, and Thompson waa utterly unable to give the name of the man for whom ha atated that he had been picking applea. When confronted with 'he evidence evi-dence Thompson broke down and admitted ad-mitted that he had stolen the car from Laa Vegas, Nev on October 13. He also stated that he waa willing will-ing to waive extradition procedures, and waa ready tA return to Nevada for, trial The Laa Vegas officers are also eager to come to Provo for Thompson, but first claim is taken, by the department of Justice.
