Show Telephone System To Be Rebuilt Poles lo He Taken From Center of Streets and May He 1'lnced In Center of lllocks Capacity of Sjslcm to Ho Trebled. Messrs. Orson J. Hyde nnd Ralph Jones of tho Mountain States Telephone Tele-phone & Telegraph Company spent sovcral days this week In Lehl, making mak-ing maps and surveys of Lehi and tho company's present telephono system, sys-tem, tho location of tho homes and business houses nnd tho location of the places whero tho Instruments a,ro now located. Tho telephono company will rebuild lis present system during tho coming summer, hut before doing so It Is necessary ne-cessary to mnko a most thorough survey sur-vey of tho town, as tho now system will bo made to tako caro of tho company's) com-pany's) business for tho noxt fifteen years at least. It Is necessary to locate not only tho present locations of the telephones In use, but also to form nn cstlmnto of tho probablo number of 'phones that will bo used nnd their probablo future locations. With tho resources of Lehl having recently been doubled and tho consequent conse-quent probablo doubling of tho present pres-ent population, together with the natural nat-ural Increase In the genernl uso of telephones, a system capable of supplying sup-plying three times tho present needs will hnvo to bo Installed. When tho now system will havo been Installed nil tho poles. will havo boon removed from tho center of tho streets nnd many of them will bo run through the center of tho blocks. Tho whole Bystetn will hep radically rebuilt at a cost of approximately $16,-U00. $16,-U00. Work will commence on making tho changes somo tlmo noxt month nnd will consumo most of tho summer. |
