La experiencia más deslumbrante que se encontró en Salt Lake City el fin de semana pasado, fue la explosión salsera en el DF Dance Studio con participación de los bailarines profesionales David y Jennifer Stein. El estudio se invadió con estudiantes de cada nivel, desde los que no sabían nada, hasta los que han bailado profesionalmente en la industria. David Stein es originario de Texas pero creció en California, donde vive actual- mente. Jennifer Stein nació en San José, California de padres mexicanos, sin embargo, empezó a bailar salsa hasta que conoció a David en un club de baile pero se puede ver que la sangre latina la lleva por dentro y le ha ayudado a conectarse con los ritmos latinos de una forma original. La conexión como pareja que proyectan con la música es admirable y envidiable. Que pareja mas bella, no solo como bailarines pero también como personas, muy amables y muy divertidos, me encantó el taller y me encantaron ellos”. Este baile excéntrico y excitante ha acaparado la atención de muchos en los últimos años. Sin embargo, Utah, con sus muchos residentes latinos y residentes que hablan español y les encanta la música latina, no ha sido contado entre los estados de mayor crecimiento cuando se habla de clases o shows de salsa. Más talleres de invasión de salsa » Para Ivanova, este evento de Invasión salsa no es un negocio, es solamente una forma de conectar a los amantes de la salsa para que puedan disfrutar del ambiente y conectarse con profesionales como los Steins que aman el ritmo tanto o más que Ivanova. Menciona que le gusta organizar esta clase de eventos para poder hacer que crezca el ambiente salsero en Utah: “Es por razones muy egoístas que lo hago porque quiero que el ambiente crezca, así yo podré bailar con muchas personas mas en vez de con las mismas cinco todo el tiempo”, comenta. “Invité a David y Jennifer a venir a Utah porque además de ser muy buenos maestros de baile, son unas personas muy amigables y sociables y yo sabía que ellos iban a conquistar a mis estudiantes en Utah”, dice Ivanova. Ni la lluvia ni el frío detuvieron a los fans que la noche del 7 de octubre acudieron al estadio de béisbol Hermanos Serdán para ver lo que muchos creyeron imposible: la legendaria banda de rock re- unida pese al tiempo y los distanciamientos. El clima fue amable y la lluvia desapareció antes del concierto, el cielo quedó nublado y la luna obsequió un brillo especial. La entrada al recinto fue complicada y peligrosa, pues los organizadores decidieron que los asistentes de todas las localidades ingresaran por la misma puerta en la que una debil reja alertaba con caerse. La impaciencia era grande, pero la emoción lo era más. Al filo de las 22:00 horas las luces se apagaron y en la pantalla se proyectó el nombre “Caifanes” con la clásica tipografía roja y el mitológico perro. De pronto las luces azules y violetas incendiaron el ánimo de miles de jóvenes, adultos, niños y hasta abuelos que desbordaron en gritos cuando al fin salieron Diego Herrera, Alfonso André, Sabo Romo, Alejandro Marcovich y Saúl Hernández. Tal como lo llaman desde hace décadas los Caifanes y sus seguidores, aquello no fue un concierto sino un verdadero “ritual”, una fusión homogénea de personas de todas edades y estratos. El repertorio fue una ofrenda para los verdaderos fans de la banda. Como en sus mejores épocas, interpretaron los himnos que los llevaron al éxito.
