Show Friday, November 12, 1929. Page8 Time For Clean-U- p On Liquor Violators nr The Girl Who Dared EDYTHE SIEEUM Qm. Who Vuaa Edythe Sterling portrays the role of a girl sheriff in a settlement in the wild reaches of the cattle country of the Old West, where good men and bad straggle for dominance. In the coarse of pursuit of her duty die is obliged to arrest her suitor, save her father from lynching at the hands of a misled mob, and trail the really guilty persons all over the cow country until the wrong was righted and justice avenged itself. A REPUBLIC PRODUCTION. STAR THEATRE Saturday, November 13th The decant people of Salt Lake-an- d there must be many thousands of them ought to rejoice because the defeat of Sheriff Corlees will of surely mean a general clean-u- p the bootleggers, gamblers and other criminals. Salt Labe has been and Is still wide open to liquor truffle and If all reports are true the sheriff and his deputies hare been getting rich as a result of the protection which they hare thrown around criminals. Ordinarily we are far enough away from Balt Lake not to be contaminated by the criminal element of the capital, but when the officers of Utahs largest dty work hand in hand with bootleggers for the purpose of preventing the enforcement of the prohibition law the whole state Is affected. No other part of Utah can be very dry as long as Salt Lake Is wet. The people of Utah have voted against boose by a big majority but the present state administration and the Balt Lake eounty officers hare kept the state well saturated with liquor. It Is time' for a houaecleanlng. Most everyone realises what boose is doing. We know that most of the automobile accidents, happening at night, are the direct result of liquor, no matter how the newspaper reports may tell of steering gears going wrong and drivers blinded by glaring headlights as well as other excuses for the accidents. Let's have an enforcement of the prohibition law In Utah or go back to the day of the licensed saloon. We dont like tb see the streets and alleys cluttered up with those red packages which are labeled Vanlla Extract," and which In reality serve as a camoflage for a poor grade of alcohol. ' . ( Ladies Banqueted Men And Their Ladies Ex-Servi- ce On Thursday evening of this week the former service men conducted a very pleasant dancing party at the Elks Pavilion, the affair being a success socially and financially. Mrs. Murphy, who acted as chairman of the committee, wishes to thank the ladles of Eureka who assisted In the entertainment of the soldiers. The material for the banquet was donated by the good people of Eureka and everyone who was solicited for help responded most liberally. THE ONLY WAT TO MAKE THEM GOST YOU LESS IS TO THEM FOR LESS THAN THEY'RE REALLY WORTH.
