Show william mccomb died As result of mine injuries 0 the death ot of william wil liam mccomb fol following loning an accident a the gemini mine in this city removed from a most active life one ol 01 the well known mine workers of utah while mr mccomb mccombs a home lor for some years had been at alt lake he spent a good part of his life in tintic gintic corn com ing to this district badent five years ago and holding positions ot of re at various mines ot of the camp arly harly t in life he developed an aptitude tor for cable work and tor lor a score floore or more years had specialty specia liz tz ed along that particular line his son L P mccomb has also been following the same kind ot of work and was with his father at the gemini mine at the time of the acci acet dent which resulted in the latter s death mr mccomb and son sor were A ere en in making repairs to the cable at the tire gemini mine on bridal after noon of last week eek the cage had been lowered to the 1300 level and the clamps had been put in place to hold the weight eight of the cable which extended from the collar of the shaft to the point at which the cage was vas resting on the chairs at the 1300 level in some unaccountable manner the clamps tolled failed to hold the cable cables s weight and as the r slack was taken up near the drum 0 of f the large hoisting engine the cable struck mr mccomb and threw throw him into the air his injuries beina eus bus bained when he dropped to the floor of the engine room he ile was as ghea given every possible attention but never I 1 regained consciousness death took place the following morning no doubt resulting from a fractured skull mrs mccomb came to eureka on learning of the accident and ac companied compan led her husbands body to salt lake the following day I 1 mr mccomb vias 57 years of age he ile Is survived by his widow and the following children L R N mccomb william VIll lain mccomb jr mrs eleanor Haym leon loon mrs C E ward alien allen mccomb and evan mccomb the family home Is at south 1st west street salt lake deceased has three sisters and one brother mrs bert cramer mrs I 1 illie hunt and lendle mccomb all of salt lake and mrs nettle stoddard of provo he also has six grandc hll dren funeral services were held at salt lake under the auspices of the loial loyal order of Moo moose seand and the wood men ot of the world peter borup formerly of eureka presided at the services and james H neilson assistant leader of the salt lake tabernacle choir offered the invocation the moose ritual istle services were carried out at the joseph william taylor funeral chapel and the service at the grave was by the woodmen frank D scott dictator of 0 the moose lodge delivered an address while there were a number of appropriate must cal numbers NIll william lain mccomb was waa exceptional ly 1 well known to the older residents of ot eureka he ile was a man of unusual mechanical ability honorable and upright in all his business dealings and an deal ideal husband and lather father his death coming in such an un expected manner ie Is sincerely regret ted throughout the state |
