ing lug students no little monkey to frisk around the feet of fair but timid coeds coeds coeds co co- co- co eds no picturesque Alpine climber to jump nimbly from high and rugged steeps to lofty and dangerous mailboxes mail mall mailboxes boxes not a single solitary white wing to keep our walks and hallways clean and sanitary no court jester to I stimulate our mirth no willing and humble jack boot-jack to polish our shabby shoes for a postage stamp or a penny no pretty little girl to our sympathy sympathy sympathy sym sym- pathy by running around in a shivering shivering shivering shiver shiver- ing white night gown begging professors professors sors for m matches to light her her- herflicker flicker flicker- ng ng and not altogether dependable candle no Lady Macbeth in red tights lace curtain draperies and goose pimpled arms to shock our only on the modesty one campus camp camp- us and no barrel of Bill All this is history for Skull and Bones initiation is over As was predicted predicted predicted pre pre- every actor was a star and those who missed last Fridays Friday's Student student Student Stu stu- dent Body meeting certainly missed a rare treat The actors played to a avery avery avery very large and equally appreciative audience Ben Ellerbeck attired as a Swiss mountaineer r with his climbing staff and his precious and trustworthy camera rather rushed things by assuming assuming assuming as as- suming the platform before he was properly introduced or perhaps was too slow or forgot about it until it was almost too tco late Almost Al- Al most too late but not too late for he remembered explained the situation and gave Herr Was name the introduction due him as an official official official of of- imported for the express purpose pur pur- purpose purpose pose of taking pictures of the outlaw Lopez in various effective effe poses both single ami and in groups was rudely interrupted many times during the delivery of his clever but rather personal speech He had to give wa way to Jimmie Paul the Dago organ grinder while he delighted delighted delighted de de- de lighted his audience with his re oft but ever appreciated tune ground out by the talented talent talent- ed musician Jimmie will be starring starring starring starr starr- ing on the Orpheum ere long Sherm Lillie made a splendid little monkey He seemed peculiarly suited stilted to the part We hope Mr 1 Lillie will not take exception to this complimentary compliment compliment- ary bit of comment he certainly was good at the monkey business as some ome one said and we want everybody everybody everybody every every- body to know it He and his organ grinder must have collected enough change during the forenoon to take in three movies a piece I Once in awhile Bill Argyle stood up to rest We Ve couldn't see much of Bill when he was sitting down He gave a very pleasing of sympathy sympathy sym p pathy thy and its remark remarkable appropriateness appropriateness made it appeal all the more forcibly Bill and his barrel and his boudoir cap certainly scored a hit hit hit- and we might add Bill has bas some voice It was a scream Allen Forrester glided down the isle or perhaps it was was a castle walk singing his own dance music as nearly as possible to the tune of Adam and Eve He took his time and though somewhat fussed he managed his long skirts with considerable ease ease and grace Poor little boot black Jesse With one black eye and a pathetic appearance he recited his little poem with such a touching appeal that it almost brought hot and smarting tears to the eyes of his audience He was too realistic And listen Doesn't Clyde Williams make a pretty girl But Buz oh how her h r how how his slippers must have hurt Too bad girls' girls pumps dont don't come in boys' boys sizes He looked like a picture in a book of nursery rhymes when he stood up there on the table holding up his little candle and singing Good Nurse Oh Clyde if you had been a girl your popularity would have killed you The real scream came when Pete or better Perez Kinney the Court Fool took it upon himself to shave Stan the King for the time being He lathered Stans' Stans face liberally with suds scraped It ft diligently with witha a huge and barbarous looking razor fuzzed up some r n e e foam and ran the scraper over it again sponged it off thoroughly and not too gently meantime sprinkling water freely over much of the surrounding scenery scenery scenery ery and finally gave him a regular Bolin rub down from his forehead to where his neck goes into his collar On the whole it was the best Skull and Bones initiation ever held on the campus take off of was good and the program of events went off oft smoothly Everybody but the pledges were thoroughly muse amused In fact from 11 1130 30 to 1 30 there was not a single witness who did not spend most of the time in paroxysms of glee Saturday night the members of the Owl and Kep gave the recent Skull and Bones pledges a banquet which more than made up for the goats the fellows had to be on Friday The banquet at the Louvre followed the serious part of the initiation which was held at the A. A F F. F house |
