A son, Scotlen Almon Lamont Hancock, was born July 7, 2008 to Tasha Hancock of Centerfield. He weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces. A daughter, Kira Mae Roberts, was born July 8, 2008 A5 Sanpete Messenger/Gunnison Valley Edition Wednesday, July 16, 2008 Boothe - Taylor Anniversaries 50th - Anderson to Trenton and Sammi Roberts of Monroe. She weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces. A daughter, Kambree Marie Ruiz, was born July 8, 2008 to Jesse Ruiz and Melissa Mandel of Manti. She weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces. A daughter, Oaklee Belle Brian, was born July 10, 2008 to Roger and Catherine Brian of Loa. She weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces. Paxon Bartley Johnson Bart and Heidi Johnson of Manti had a baby boy on Sat., July 5, 2008. He weighed 5 pounds and will be named Paxon Bartley Johnson. Birthdays First - Trevin Poulson Trevin Meyrick Poulson celebrated his first birthday on June 27, 2008. He celebrated his special day with his family at a party held in his honor. Trevin is the son of Kyle and Brittney Poulson of Ephraim. He is a very happy and energetic boy who never stops for a second. He loves swimming, dancing and playing outside in the dirt. He has brought so much joy to his family. Proud grandparents are Steven and Neda Pyper of Manti, and Rick and Marilee Poulson of Fairview. Greatgrandparents are Sheran and Jennifer Boothe and Nolan Taylor Jennifer Boothe and Nolan Taylor will be married in the Manti LDS Temple on July 25, 2008. The couple will be honored at a reception that evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Ephraim Co-op. Jennifer is the daughter of Greg and Fara Boothe of Ephraim. Nolan is the son of Marc and Joanne Taylor of Ephraim. Both Jennifer and Nolan are graduates of Manti High School. Jennifer graduated from Stacey’s College of Cosmetology in November 2007. Nolan served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Helsinki, Finland. He is currently attending Snow College. Jennifer and Nolan will reside in Ephraim. Kelso - Layton Lowell and Jeanne Anderson of Fairview will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this Friday. The couple was married in the Logan LDS Temple on July 18, 1958. Lowell was formerly employed as an economist for the Bureau of Reclamation. The Anderson Family has resided in Utah, Idaho and Cairo, Egypt. They have enjoyed their service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the community and at the Manti and Nauvoo LDS Temples. Trevin Meyrick Poulson Mary Dyches of Spring City, Kathy Pyper of Manti, Lee and Marian Schoonover of Fairview, and Jay and Lee Holstine of Jerome, Idaho. The family says, “Happy birthday, Trevy!” Eagle Scouts Scott Hacking An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held Saturday afternoon, July 5, for Scott Glen Hacking of the Ephraim LDS 7th Ward. Scott planned and organized a project to benefit the Mormon Miracle Pageant. He and other volunteers drilled holes in 2,300 chairs to aid in the draining of water. Scott would like to thank his Scout Troop, 1647; his great leaders; his family and friends for helping with the project. He appreciates the time and effort spent in his behalf. Scott enjoys camping, playing basketball and base- They also enjoy traveling. The couple continues to serve in the Manti Temple, where they have worked for 20 years. Lowell and Jeanne are the parents of four children: Kent (Tammy) Anderson of Hooper, UT; Kayln (Ken) Bench of Fairview; Wade (Jan) Anderson of Fairview; and Rita (Kevin) Poulson of Moroni. Missions Homecoming Miles Nielson Japan Sapporo Mission Elder Miles J. Nielsen will return from serving in the Japan Sapporo Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 16. Elder Nielsen will speak in the Fountain Green LDS 2nd Ward at 11 a.m. on July 20. Elder Nielsen is the son of Jim and Diane Nielsen of Fountain Green. His grandparents Lowell and Jeanne Anderson Miles J. Nielson are Earl and Dorothy Nielsen of Moroni, and Peter and Verdeen Jacobson of Fountain Green. Milestones 99th-Virginia Nielson Virginia K. Nielson will be 99 on Sat., July 19. The family invites you to join with her in celebrating her birthday. A celebration will be held in her honor that Saturday at 3 p.m. at Virginia’s residence, 351 N. Main St. in Ephraim. Tony and Heidi Kelso of Mt. Pleasant are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Jessica Lee Kelso, to Robby D. Layton, son of Scott and Peggy Layton of Manti on Saturday, July 19, 2008. Jessica is a graduate of North Sanpete High School and is currently attending Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology in Provo. Robby is a graduate of Manti High School and Wyo- ming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyo. The couple will make their first home in Manti, Utah. A garden reception will be held in their honor from 7-9 p.m. at the home of the bride’s grandparents, Charles and Elna McKay, at 1495 S Hwy. 117 in Mt. Pleasant. In case of inclement weather, the reception will be held at the LDS Church at 300 South and State Street in Dorothy H. Jorgensen Mt. Pleasant. Obituaries Dorothy “Dottie” Rees Dorothy (Dottie) Diana Cowan Rees of Clinton, Utah passed away July 10, 2008. Dottie was born Nov. 9, 1951 in Sacramento, Calif. to Howard Thomas and Bernice Baldwin Cowan. She married Frank Eugene Rees on June 1, 1971 in Wales. They had one daughter, June Christine Clark, and a grandson, Andrew Skyler Clark. Dottie was a wonderful cook. She loved to work with her hands, doing yard work, sewing and ceramics. She enjoyed fishing and camping, and spending time with her family. She especially loved her “little guy” Andy. Dottie loved to shop and get special things for her family. She worked at the Moroni Feed Company, Heritage Park Care Center in Roy, and WalMart in Layton. She will be missed by all who loved her. Dottie is survived by her Dorothy H. Jorgensen Dorothy “Dottie” Diana Cowan Rees husband, Frank Rees of Clinton; daughter June Christine Clark of South Ogden; grandson Andrew Clark; brothers John and LeRoy Cowan; sistersin-law Carolyn (Karl) Christensen of Ephraim, and Mary Ann (Richard) Nielsen of St. George; brother-in-law Roger (Rebecca) Rees of Wales. Dottie was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at the Sanpitch LDS Ward in Wales. Interment was in the Wales Town Cemetery under the care of Rasmussen Mortuary. Dorothy H. Jorgensen of Manti passed away July 9, 2008 in Bountiful. She was 89. Dorothy was born May 19, 1919 in Indianola to Henry and Elizabeth Hodgson Hackwell. She attended grade school and high school in Ephraim. She had many friends and enjoyed her school days. Dorothy married Douglas Jorgensen on August 5, 1938 in Ephraim. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple two years later. They were loving companions for 66 years. Dorothy was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the primary, mutual and relief society presidencies. She made many friends and enjoyed working with others. Dorothy was an excellent homemaker, cook, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She truly enjoyed and loved her grandchildren. Dorothy was deeply ad- mired and loved for her diligence and kindness. Family and friends were truly blessed to have had her in their lives. Dorothy is survived by son Roger (GayDene) Jorgensen, Levan; daughter Janet (Ron) Jensen, North Salt Lake; daughter-in-law Lorna Jorgensen, Syracuse; sister Helen (Bud) Porter, Bountiful; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 8 great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug; son Gordon; parents; five sisters and her brother. Graveside services were held Saturday, July 12, 2008.
