Dalen Van Wagoner Chicago Spanish Mission Dalen Van Wagoner, son of David and Raylene Van Wagoner of Manti, has returned home from serving in the Chicago Spanish Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is employed by First sanpetemessenger.com GRADUATIONS Jesse Jensen Jesse David Jensen, the son of Michael and Mary Jensen of Gunnison, has been accepted to attend Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. He will attend there in the fall of 2006. Jesse earned his bachelor’s of science degree at Brigham Young University, graduating magna cum laude with a major in biology in April. He is employed as a trauma technician in the emergency room at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. Jesse is an avid mountain biker and recently participated in The Endurance 100 Mile Race at Park City. The Sanpete Messenger The Voice of Sanpete County since 1893 On October 13,2005, in Orem our father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, Rowland L. Norman “Scrooge,” completed his mortal mission and returned to the waiting arms of his eternal companion, Miriam. Born April 27, 1925 in Mt. Pleasant to Herbert Lavar and Louella McGee Norman the fourth of five children. He married Miriam Petersen, on Feb. 11, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Utah LDS Temple on April 18, 1946. He was an elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. He spent the majority of his life in Mt.Pleasant. He received his education at Hamilton Elementary, Wasatch Academy, and Salt Lake Trade Technical School. He enlisted in the Navy at age of 18. He received an honorable discharge on Dec. 27,1945 as a Seaman 1st Class. In 1946 he received an honorable discharge on Oct. 10, 1947. Dad’s whole life was built around his family. He worked hard in order to provide for us. Dad dearly loved his “Danish sweetheart,” our mother. Dad was a carpenter by profession and worked construction with his father for 27 years. Signs of their handiwork can be seen in many of the bridges and overpasses along the original I-15 corridor. He was later employed by Moroni Feed Company for 18 years. In his later years, he was the proud owner of “Scrooge’s Wood and Toy Shop.” Dad’s woodworking and wooden toys can be found in many The Messenger 35 S. Dad was generous and was known to provide toys secretly to families in Mt. Pleasant when the family might have been without Christmas. He is survived by his children, Georgia (Calvin) Hancock, Levan; Katherine (Grant) Laws, West Bountiful; Herbert L. (Tina) Norman, Orem; Darrell R. (Bealta) Norman, Logan; Robert D. (Robyn) Norman, Mt. Pleasant; D. Kim (Julie) Norman, Spring, Texas; and Linda Lou (Kendall) Bertelson, Aurora; a brother, Herbert Rex (Zada) Norman, Murray; sisters, Miriam Madsen, Salt Lake City; Bonnie Lou (Wallace) Allred, Orem; and sister-in law Norma Norman, Spanish Fork. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother, Gordon Norman, a brother-in-law, Blaine M. Madsen and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 17 in the Mt.Pleasant 4th Ward Chapel at 1:00 pm. Viewings were held Sunday, Oct. and Monday prior to the services. Following the services, the interment was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary.
