Show JOHN BECK INDICTED Unlawful Cohabitation with Sarah Sa-rah Beck and Louisa Beck GRAND JURYS REPORT THE SHORTEST REPORT OF TIlE KID OX RECORD Mr Metz Sent to the Penitentiary For Two anil a Half YearsOther Prisoners Sentenced Hedges Convicted Con-victed of Assault With Intent to Commit Rape John C Cannon on Trial For Forgery The speculation which has been indulged i I dulged in ever since the grand jury convened as to whether or not they would indict John Beck on the charge of unlawful cohabitation was set at rest yesterday afternoon when the grand jury came into court and returned re-turned an indictment against Mr Beck This was somewhat of a surprise sur-prise lo a good many people as the general impression had gotten abroad that the charges had been ignored I is said that when a vote was taken on it a few days ago eleven favored indicting and four opposed i Twelve votes being necessary to indict it was thought that the case was disposed of in a manner favorable to the accused but it is now said that some days afterwards af-terwards the case was further discussed dis-cussed and another vote taken which resulted as stated The indictment charges that John Beck on the 1st day of January 1894 and on divers days thereafter and continuously between the day aforesaid afore-said and the 1st of October 1894 did unlawfully live and cohabit with more tIn one woman as his wives to wit with one Sarah Beck and one Louisa Goss sometimes called Louisa Beck Beckhe witnesses examined before the grand jury were Frank Y Taylor Margaret Taylor Louisa Goss Agnes Marston A E Hyde Eugene Traugh ber Bertha Goss Peter Goss Walter F J Beattie Hedwig WilkPr Agnes Anderson Annie Wickstrom and A fred Erkljmd frr ECk1md for Mr Beck was ordered to appear lr arraignment this morning |
