Cox spent his sabbatical last year in Mexico traveling throughout the provinces and remote mountain villages of Mexico where pottery is a way of life for the Campesinos. The people are poor, j Snow sculptors dig 'Winter Fantasy' show The McKay Dee Hospital is sponsoring a Winter Carnival at Nordic Valley this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15 and 16. Friday at 7 p.m. will be the Grand Slalom Standard Race open to anyone (entry fee $4) with prizes in four categories. Register before 6 p.m. at the Nordic Lodge. Saturday events feature a show on the slopes by international champion aerial freestyle skiers and the handicapped skiers of Utah. The show begins at 1 p.m. Cutter rides, presentation of the Winter Carnival queen and her attendants, a raffle and door prizes are also included. Also Saturday, a snow sculpture contest sponsored by Pepsi-cola will be featured. Prizes include: 1st. $300 AM-FM Phi Kappa Phi offers fellowships All WSC students planning to attend graduate school will have an opportunity to have their first year paid, said Dr. Ralph Telford, chairman of the political science department. Graduate fellowships by Phi Kappa Phi are currently offered to members and non-members alike, he added. Contest rules are available at the U.B. information center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Winners will be notified by April 1. Applications must be accompanied by recommendations from three professors. Blanks are in Dr. Telford's office, room 280, Social Science Building. In addition to the one-year program, other scholarships are offered to help outstanding students with subsequent years in graduate schools. |
