Show US GONE TO HIS HERO william H thompson an aged and highly respected resident of this city also dixie pioneer of 1862 pas eed sed away about 8 0 clock monday morning apr 3 full obituary will bo be published in the next issue of this paper funeral services were held tues day afternoon aft ernon april 4 in the stake tabernacle choir sang oh it is wonderful Wonder tui prayer was offered by elder william gardner quartet eang cang some sweet day bye and bye pres pros david H cannon was the first speaker said he knew ot of bro thompson s integrity and of his good desires and ambitions bro thomp son came to dixie in 1862 he lab ored hard in the building up of this dixie country he also aided in the indian troubles he ile worked on the temple and when it was completed was as called by pres young to labor in it where be he was engineer making and caring for a furnace tor for the heating of the building he baptis ed many thousands of people while working there in june 1902 he was set apart as assistant to the president of the temple and labored as such until his eyesight began to tall fall in may 1914 ip waa was honor ably released from his labors in the temple all during these years he was a very faithful energetic worker we come to do him honor not feeling sadness for bro thompson has finished his work and has done it well the lord loved him for his integrity and faithfulness he will meet on the other side many ands of people who will thank him tor for the labor he has performed tor for them in the temple asked the blessing of the lord on his children and his wife who has done so much and been so untiring in her labors of love during bro thompson a long illness elder arthur F miles eald said that bro thompson had sought spiritual glory he once traveled over the stake otake on toot to visit the sunday schools he ft as a musician he could turn his hand to any trade he never desired earthly glory but followed the teachings of jesus christ and joseph smith the prophet and he has gone to reap the reward of the faithful when a man seeks to gain worldly wealth he draws away from that which is of god bro thompson was not of this type he was exemplary in his work and beliefs according to the light which had been given him elder israel wade sang abide with me ale bro brigham jarvis fir sr eald said he bad had been acquainted with the deceased tor for many years knew his desires were tor for the good of mankind he had great struggles and by overcoming his faults he became strong was sure that bro thompson a labon labors would continue and that he would aid in the resurrection of mankind hoped that we would all live more like bro thompson that we would be worthy to meet him bishop F G miles allies said he thought we should show great respect and appreciation to the people who have spent so much of their lives in the building up of this country bro thompson was one of these people as is brother cannon had learned to love this man through the many years he had been associated with him he was leader of the brass band here tor for years and did much good among the boys hoped we would all be as nearly prepared to go when our call comes its this de parted brother singing 0 my aly father I 1 benediction by elder R A morris full obituary next week 3 |
