He was born March 2, 1902 in Driggs, Idaho to Wallace Martin and Alzina Tere-ssa Tere-ssa Hjorth Crandall. He married Grace Aleda Christensen October 22, 1924 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Cliff had a love for flowers, gardening, outdoors, service and photography. He was on the Springville City Shade Tree Commission for 20 years. He was an ' avid BYU fan and supporter. sup-porter. He was a member mem-ber of the Springville Kiwanis Club for 49 years. He was a High Priest in the Kolob 4th ward. He served as Bishopric Counselor, Scoutmaster, High Counselor, Coun-selor, Scout Commissioner Commis-sioner and High Priest On Thursday, May 5, the Kiwanis Club had a very informative session with F. He loved farming, horses and operated a dairy while being employed em-ployed by Columbis Steel (Ironton Plant) for 24 years and U.S. Steel (Geneva Plant) for 23 years. He was instrumental instru-mental in establishing the 100-foot flag pole in Springville. He is survived by a daughter, Marilyn C. She was born August 19, 1911, at Springville, Utah, a daughter of Robert Vlao and Hannah Ann Smith Blackett. She married Floyd Bird, who died in 1958. She married mar-ried Vern R. Callaway, in Ely, Nevada in 1959. She was a member of the L.D.S. Church. Naomi was a homemaker and former employee of Barbizon. She, along with her husband, operated oper-ated a cafe in Santaquin for many years. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She enjoyed fishing time with her family and with her dog, Suzie. Norma Eddy Bird, age 90, of Springville died Sunday, May 8, 1994 in Springville. She was born November 28-1903 28-1903 in Spanish Fork to Jane Bigley Eddy. She married Guy H. Bird April 10, 1923 in Provo. She was a member of the L.D.S. church and Thomas L Mt. Thomas Leo Schwartz, 59, of Loop Road; Savoy, died Wednesday, Wed-nesday, April 27, 1994 at his home after a lengthy illness He was born in Provo, Pro-vo, Utah on March 4, 1935, a son of the late Thomas and Mary (Roy-lance) (Roy-lance) Schwartz. He attended schools in Utah, including the University of Utah, until entering the U.S. Navy, serving on active duty from 1955 to 1959. Following his discharge from the Na-' vy, he worked for a period for AT & T, until entering the University of Colorado, where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in ' electrical engineering. In 1968, he accepted a position in the Robert L. Robert L. Stoddard age 68, of Ephraim, died May 5, 1994, in Provo, Utah after a long illness. He was born October 20, 1925, to Ira and Opal Coumerlith Stoddard, in Bancroft, Idaho. He married Dorothy Jensen on June 9, 1948 in Ephraim. Eph-raim. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Bob grew up and attended schools in Chesterfield Ches-terfield and Bancroft, Idaho. He graduated from North Gem High School. He joined the Navy in 1943, serving honorably . in the South Pacific for three years. Bob attended Ricks College and excelled in . athletics and in 1983 was inducted into the Ricks College Athletic Hall of Fame. He transferred to Utah State University and graduated in 1952 with a major in Vocational Voca-tional Agriculture. He was offered a contract to play football with the Chicago Bears. He received re-ceived his M.S. Degree in 1962 from Utah State University. His first teaching experience was at Gunnison Gunni-son High School. In July 1954, Bob began a 38-year 38-year tenure at Snow College, serving first as head football coach, track and wrestling coach . and agriculture teacher. He held a variety vari-ety of administrative positions including Athletic Ath-letic Director, Dean of Instruction, Interim President twice and Vice President of Development. Develop-ment. He was the key figure in creating the Snow College Development Develop-ment Office and the Sjiow College Foundation. Founda-tion. The institution benefitted from the private and Federal dollars raised. He also initiated the Badger Booster Club. He received re-ceived an Honorary Degree from Snow College. He joined the national Council for Resource Development in 1974 and has served a president presi-dent twice. Callaway, two daughters: Mrs Claude (Shirlene) Romigner and Mrs. Ray (Doris Ann) Bulow, both Mapleton, Ut.; Duane & (LaRue) Bird, Salem, Oregon; Ronnie K. (Theresa) Bird, Orein; Walter R. (Artis Rae) Callaway, Santaquin. 25 grandchildren; grandchil-dren; 55 great-grandchildren; four great-greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were May 7. Interment was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Among red deer, the male is called a hart, the female, a hind and their offspring a calf. Norma E. Bird had been Young Wo-mens Wo-mens President and a visiting teacher. She had been employed at Jack's Toggery in Springville for many years. She enjoyed gardening, her grandchildren, classical music, flowers, crocheting. crochet-ing. She is survived by Schwartz Ordinance Division at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield, working for the U.S. Navy as a quality control engineer, until illness-forced his retirement in September of 1993. Mr. Schwartz was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha and Alpha Tau fraternities at the University Univer-sity of Colorado. He survived by his wife, the former Susan A. Grube, whom he married on September 7. 1963. Two sons: Thomas C. Schwartz of Falmouth, Fal-mouth, Maine, and Timothy C. Schwartz of Boston, Massachusetts. A Memorial service was conducted on Monday Mon-day at St. Mark's Episcopal Epis-copal Church. Stoddard as a national leader and received the Distinguished Distin-guished Service Lifetime Membership Award in 1982. Bob was a willing worker in the Community, Communi-ty, helping to restore the Ephraim Co-Op and Granary. Over the years, he has served in the City Council, Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and Mormon Miracle Pageant. He received the Service above Self Award from the Rotary Club. He was a member of the committee who worked diligently to have the Central Utah Correctional Correc-tional facility located in Gunnison. He raised funds to start the Football Foot-ball program at Manti High School. Bob was an active member of the L.D.S. Church. He served in two Bishoprics, and was a Snow College Branch President. He served in-the in-the high Council, High Priest group leader, and as a Primary teacher. His greatest joy was serving as an Ordinance Worker in the Manti LDS Temple. Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Ephraim; and three daughters and one son: Kristine Tatton (James) of Nephi; Katherine Nelson (Peter) of Salt Lake City; Mark Robert (LeAnn) of Nephi; Julie Warren (Jeff) of Springville; Spring-ville; 17 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Four sisters and one . brother: Barbara Rose of LeMesa, California; Donna Wartena of Portland, Port-land, Oregon; Jack Stoddard of Shelly, Idaho; Betty Jennings of Price, Utah; Fern Wood-berry Wood-berry of Dallas, Texas. Funeral will be Wednesday, Wed-nesday, May 11, 1994 at 11 a.m. in the Ephraim Stake Center, 400 E Center. Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial Buri-al will be in the Ephraim City Cemetery under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary.
